Kirovograd region gave birth to a lot of talents that made Ukraine and our region known in the all over the world. The work of these artists was presented in the exhibition hall of the “Artists-countrymen" of Kirovograd regional art Museum.
The development of the fine arts in our city is concerned primarily with the creation of the city evening drawing classes at Elisavetgrad real school which was founded by the academic of portrait painting Petro Khrestonostsev (1837-1893). The exhibition presents portraits of merchant Kupchenko and his wife which is attributed to the master.
The first Director of the evening drawing classes in 1906 became FeodosiyKozachynskiy (1864-1922). Although the artist had not received much fame and today there are only 7 of the artist's works (5 of them are represented in the exhibition), but it is difficult to overestimate the value of what he’d made for our region. After studying at the Academy of fine arts, where he studied fromRepin, Kozachynskiy returned home and worked as a teacher of drawing and painting inElisavetgradZemskiy real College, and since 1906 he headed the evening drawing classes the graduates of which were a whole number of famous artists that brought fame to the Region far beyond the borders of Ukraine and who are the pride of our region. They areOleksanderOsmerkin, PetroPokarzhevskiy, AmsheiNurenberg, OleksanderFoinitskiy.
One of the famous disciples of Kozachynskiy was the honored art worker of the RSFSR Petro Pokarzhevskiy (1889-1969). He is a well-known painter. His main works are devoted to the red Army. But Petro defined his works as "battle genre”. The collection of the Museum contains mostly his landscapes, still lifes, studies of horses.
The pupil of the evening drawing classes AmsheiNurenberg (1887-1979) is a well-known by the fact that along with Mayakovskiy he was one of the four founders of the "Windows of GROWTH" and participated in the creation of a "Society of the new painting." The works of him are presented in the exhibition of landscape painting.
Another pupil of the evening drawing classes, whom Kozachynskiy studied, became an honored artist of Moldova. He is OleksanderFoinitskiy (1886-1973). In 1913, after graduating from the Odessa art school, he accepted an invitation to teach graphic objects in the gymnasiums of Tiraspol. In his work, the artist preferred a landscape that reflects the revival and development of the city, which became his second homeland.
One of the most famous artists who were born in this region is OleksanderOsmerkin(1892-1953). In his works OleksanderOsmerkin was a follower of impressionistically traditions in art and favored the so-called small genres in art as still life, landscape and portrait.
Osmerkin left a large creative heritage of over 700 easel paintings and graphics, theatrical-decorative work. His works are exhibited in the best museums in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, in many museums of the CIS and abroad.
Basic and consistent artist-realist in art was Petro Kodiev (1899-1968). Many of his works were devoted to the topics of Civil War, The Great Patriotic war, the images Shevchenko, O. Gorky, Pushkin, and others. However, the landscape has a special meaning for the artist. This is the genre of his work that is presented in the hall. The great merit of our countryman also lies in the fact that in 1938 he became the first director of research and restoration workshop at the Kyiv art Institute.
Our distinguished countryman, the famous Russian artist, whose work defines the face of contemporary world art, honored artist of USSR, laureate of State prize of the USSR, full member of the Russian Academy of arts is Petro Ossowski (born in 1925). He was born in a Mala Vyska and now lives and works in Moscow. Famous artist is the founder of the so-called "severe style" in art. A lot of works devoted to the picturesque scenery of our beautiful steppe region in the collection of regional art Museum.
Yuri Pavlovich Lutskevich (1934-2001), founder of the Ukrainian neo-Baroque belongs to outstanding artists countrymen of Kirovograd region.
In the hall of the exhibition there presented the works by artists which may be called our contemporaries. Mikhail Nadezhdin is a bright representative of avant-garde art, awarded the title honored artist of the country, the Chairman of the Kirovohrad regional organization of National Union of artists of Ukraine. He is a member of the all-Union, Republican and international (Bulgaria, Canada, USA) exhibitions.
The works presented in the exhibition hall of the artists' works were dedicated to their hometown, but who unfortunately passed away. They are representatives of the so-called "socialist realism": Vladimir Fedorov (1920-1986), BronislawDomashyn (1927-2000), MykolaBondarenko (1914-2000). Among them there is an honored artist of Ukraine Boris Vintenko (1927-2002). The artist's works at any exhibition can be accurately distinguished from the works of other artists, thanks to a technique. The leading way of the artist is a bright, sun-filled and cheerful image of the native steppe of Ukraine.
