On 2 April 2014 in Kirovohrad regional art museum was opened «Artist's impression of Kirovohrad » exhibition of artist works dedicated to the 75th anniversary of creation of Kirovohrad region.

Kirovohrad region's day of birthday is considered to be on 10 January 1939, when appeared appropriate order of  Presidium of the Supreme Soviet, according to which at the map of Soviet Ukraine appeared three new regions- Sumy, Zaporozhzhia, Kirovohrad. Moreover the last, unlike modern Kirovohrad region, legally it consisted of 31 (actually there were 30) and had small city of regional subordination. And only after a numerous administrative reforms, it was transformed in 21 and 4 cities of regional subordination.

The territory of nowadays Kirovohrad – is unique region. It is not because of the geographical centre of Ukraine is here. It's just our land always laid at the intersection of different civilization, cultures, religious and become component part of Scythia, than Sarmatia. In XIV-XV centuries it became border with lands, captured by lithuanian, polish, turkish and tatar feudals. It became impulse for appearing Cossaks  here at the turn of XV-XVI centuries and conversion of our land into part of Zaporizhian Sich. This historical fact gives us a full right to state with pride, that Kirovohrad – is land of cossaks.

Afterwards the relay of military victory was taken by the fortress of Saint Elizabeth – which was outpost of Orthodoxy on the border with «infidels» - Turks and Tatars, and reserve base of russian troops. It also became a precursor of «city with military bearing» - of Elesavethrad, county town of Novorossiisk governorate, later Kherson governorate. Before the founding of Odessa, Kherson and Mykolaiv, it is Elesavethrad was trade centre of Ukraine. And even after this it left not only military, but imperial city, and was under the protection of the monarch-emperor and had double-headed eagle at the image of coat of arm.

Unfortunately as a result of October Revolution in 1917 and the victory of Bilshovysm this special status was forfeited. The former imperial city became to present more low profile – county town of Mykolaiv governorate (1921), county town of Odessa governorate (1922), regional centre of Odessa oblast (1932), regional centre of Mykolaiv oblast (1937). And only owing to the foundation of Kirovohrad oblast, the city got more considerable status of centre of oblast and new name – Kirovohrad, that interrupted numbers of renaming of Elesavethrad.

We should denote, that Elesavethrad in due time was entirely european city in terms of the public welfare, beauty,  purity, culture and education, one of the first in the Russian Empire, where appeared, electric tram, telephone exchange, telegraph. At the late XIX century there were more than 20 gymnasiums, colleges, seminaries, male and female schools.

The city had the great honor to become the cradle of ukrainian professional theatre. Specialist in drama study calles it «ukrainian Athens». Famous in a whole world names of glorious luminaries were – Mark Kropyvnytsy, Ivan Karpenko-Kary, Maria Zankovetska, Mykola Sadovsky. Elesavethrad also was glorified by Heinrich Neuhaus music school. To come out in front of the citizens of this city had honour opera singer Yosyp Petrov, composers Mykola Lysenko and Franz Liszt.

Individual pride of the city was it's architecture. The historical part of the city consists of buildings, created by the individual order in different architecture styles. The creators are – outstanding architectors Andri Dostoevskyi, Yakiv Pauchenko, Oleksandr Lishnevskyi. Owing to them Elesavethrad of his day had european appearance, and got from it's contemporaries for this architectural uniqueness the name «Small Paris». That's why in the recent years Kirovohrad architects, when they build houses in the centre of Kirovohrad, try to combine organically new buildings with old architecture, using architectural style «Electism» (combining of different architectural styles) and build modern buildings in antique style.

Pride of Kirovohrad land also are numerous monuments of nature, history and culture: the Karpenko-Karyi  Museum-Reserve "Khutir Nadia", arboretum «Veseli Bokovenky», Onufriievskyi park, lanscape zakaznyk «Monastyrysche» and other.

Kirovohrad land – is multinational region. Pecularity of it's geographical location promoted migration of Russians, Moldovans, Serbs, Bulgarians, Greeks, Jews, Poles, Germans and other nations. It formed cultural diversity of land and created unique example of tolerate coexistance of many cultures and nations. Maybe one of the reason of this, was that our land  always was rich on talanted people. Far beyond of Kirovohrad land are famous such persons like poet Evhen Malaniuk, writers Arsen Tarkovskyi and Yuri Yanovskyi, artists Oleksandr Osmorkin and Petro Ossovskyi, public and political figures Leon Trotsky and Volodymyr Vynnychenko and many others.

In due time even was created portrait gallery of our outstanding compatriots for «Ukraine in the world » all-ukrainian museum project, which has the pictures of most outstanding representatives of ukrainian nation and which are exhibited in

the International Convention Center "Ukrainian House" in Kyiv. Their authors became the best portrait painters of Kirovohrad land – Liubov Kyrianova, Valerii Davydov, Anatolii Yaniev,  Anatolii Shapovalov, Volodymyr, Ihor Smychek and other. During celebrating of 70th anniversary of Kirovohrad region these works were given for exhibitin if Kirovohrad regional art museum.

At the exhibition dedicated to 75th anniversary creation of Kirovohrad oblast, were presented works from the funds of regional art museum. Their authors – are unique painters, mainly – our compatriots, the glory of whom reached the lands far beyond of Kirovohrad lands. A visitor of museum can see   O.O.
