History

History of the museum began late last century when in 1870 the representatives of progressive intellectuals were asked to create art in the museum. But only in 1921, the House Science and Art opened an art gallery , which in 1924 joined the Natural History Museum , renamed in 1938 in local history . The collection made paintings collected in pre-revolutionary years , nationalized , as well as donated art lovers. In 1926 the collection numbered 150 gallery exhibits , including 26 originals. During the Nazi occupation of the gallery collection with museum was completely looted.

In 1965, there was a rebirth of the gallery, which became the Department of Regional Museum and was located in the premises of the Saint - Church of the Transfiguration.

In 1991 he was made the transfer of premises Holy Transfiguration Church religious community Kirovograd.

After returning church believers, the Executive Committee of the City Council of People's Deputies of February 13, 1991 № 129 gallery space was allocated at

Str. Marx, 60.

 

The house, located in the central part of the city, was built at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The original interior was the one example of original Art Nouveau period, had high artistic value, was one of the examples of a new type of commercial buildings in the early twentieth century. Remaining in the city and were included in the book V. Yasynovycha "Architecture of Ukraine at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries."

By order of the Representative of the President of Ukraine on January 4, 1993 at the Art Gallery was established Kirovograd Regional Art Museum.

At that time there were over repairs at the premises where the museum was open. Museum staff have written many letters to various authorities in this regard.

In particular, in a letter to the Regional Art Museum Head of Architecture and Urban Planning Administration VA Cancer on May 22, 1999 issue number 15 of the opening of the museum with the museum staff contacted chairman of regional organizations of the Union of Artists, architects, photographers, writers, representatives of students, pupils and the public city.

Since 1992 in 2001 as a result of the restoration of the original appearance of the museum building was almost completely restored. May 9, 2001 in the cultural life of the regional center hosted a remarkable event. After a long break, opened its doors Kirovograd Regional Art Museum.

The basis of each of the museum is its collection of stock . Funds Regional Art Museum staffed by exhibits obtained from the State Hermitage Museum , State Tretyakov Gallery, Kiev Museum of Russian and Ukrainian art exhibitions Directorate Union of Artists of Ukraine, as well as works that were later transferred to famous artists - natives of the city and region .

 

 

Collection of regional art museum is over 12000 items of fixed asset . Today Kirovograd Regional Art Museum is a cultural center and a hallmark of our region.
