On April 1, 2021, the exhibition "Artistic Dimension of Felix Polonsky" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of his birth, Honored Artist of Ukraine Felix Mykhailovych Polonskyi was opened at the Museum of Arts of the Kirovohrad Regional Council.
The opening of exhibitions of masters of the brush, which is described as "Artist with Ukraine in the heart" is now more important and relevant than ever, because in the long and painful formation of the Ukrainian nation and military aggression by the eastern neighbor, life position and hard work of such artists is a great example. service to their homeland, thus contributing not only to the cultural and aesthetic, but also to the national and patriotic education of the population, first of all - the youth, to whom to build the European Ukrainian state.
An ardent patriot of Ukraine, a romantic and poet at heart, a talented artist with a deep philosophical understanding of earthly life - it's all about him, Felix Polonsky, a unique master of the brush with his unique creative "I", thanks to which the authorship of his works is beyond doubt at any exhibition .
The artist belongs to the glorious cohort, which we proudly call "Compatriot Artists". He was born on January 1, 1941 in the village of Khmelyov, Mykolayiv district, Kirovohrad region, in the family of a serviceman. He received his professional education at the painting department of the Ivanovo Art School (now - the Russian Federation), being convinced that the formation of his creative tastes and directions was most influenced by teachers Seraphim Troitsky and Ivan Kalashnikov. After graduating with honors from this school in 1968, Felix Polonsky, without betraying his small homeland, worked as a decorator in the Kirovograd art and production workshops of the Art Fund of the USSR, and in 1996 even became a delegate to the II Congress of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine from Kirovograd regional organization.
Felix Mykhailovych is one of the tireless workers who are constantly in creative search, regardless of mood, bad weather or season, because professional self-improvement is very important for them. Therefore, a natural consequence was the active participation of the artist in numerous regional, national and foreign art exhibitions, including - "Exhibition of works by Kirovograd artists in Tolbukhino, Bulgaria" (1978), "Picturesque Ukraine" (1991-2005), "50th anniversary of the tragedy of Babyn Yaru ”(1991),“ Holodomor 33 ”(1993),“ Sports in Fine Arts ”(1998),“ 60th Anniversary of the Union of Artists of Ukraine ”(1998),“ Autumn Salon ”(1993, 1994, 2000),“ 70 anniversary of the Union of Artists of Ukraine "(2008)," Colorful Ukraine "(2013) and many others. Many of his assets and personal exhibitions - in the Kirovograd Art Salon (1993, 1999), Kirovograd Trade Association "Barva" (1996), Kirovograd Regional Art Museum (2002, 2004, 2006, 2011, 2016, 2020), Kirovograd Art - Alexander Osmerkin Memorial Museum (2014, 2015), private gallery "Yelisavetgrad" (2016), in Wuppertal, Federal Republic of Germany (1999).
Until the mid-1980s, the artist was actively engaged in monumental decorative painting, which influenced the further development of his work. Felix Polonsky's paintings can still be seen today in the regional hospital for war veterans, in Kirovohrad State Technical University, in the memorial museum of the Komsomol underground organization "Spartak" in the village of Krasnogirka Golovanysky district and other institutions of our region.
And yet for fans of his work and the general public, he is known primarily as the author of a series of autumn landscapes, full of lyricism, romanticism, poetry and executed mainly in orange, crimson and blue, which also became a kind of calling card of the master. But Felix Mikhailovich's love for Ukraine is not limited to glorifying its beautiful nature and ode to Ukrainian autumn. The artist is in love with everything Ukrainian, often reflecting in his works Ukrainian mythology, authenticity, folk customs and traditions, Ukrainian history, in particular - its tragic pages related to the Holodomor of 1932-1933, World War II and more. The artist has dedicated many of his works to extraordinary personalities who have long been symbols of Ukraine. Among them are Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Mykola Gogol, Marko Kropyvnytsky and others.
Among other things, Felix Mykhailovych is a talented graphic artist, because, as he himself admits, all his work began with her while still in school. The level of his graphic works could be assessed, in particular, during personal exhibitions of graphics at the Kirovohrad Art Memorial Museum of Alexander Osmerkin (2015) and Kropyvnytskyi Art Museum(2020), once again convinced of the artist's Ukrainophilia.
Felix Polonsky's award for outstanding works of fine art and active civic position was not only love and respect from the large army of his admirers, but also official awards, prizes and titles. In particular, in 2004 he was awarded the Honorary Award of the Ministry of Culture and Arts of Ukraine "For achievements in the development of culture and arts", in 2007 he won the regional award in the field of fine arts and art named after Alexander Osmerkin in the nomination "National Tradition". in 2011 he was awarded the Diploma of the Kirovohrad Regional Council, and in 2016 he received the honorary title of Honored Artist of Ukraine.
Currently, works Felix Mykhailovych are stored in the funds of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the Alexander Osmerkin Art Memorial Museum in Kropyvnytskyi and private collections in Ukraine, the Russian Federation, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Austria, Poland, Israel and the United States. We have the opportunity to be proud of the fact that 20 paintings and 5 graphic works of the master have also become part of the stock collection of our Art Museum.
The exhibition with the eloquent title "Artistic Dimension of Felix Polonsky" presents more than 40 works of the master, and once again clearly illustrates his amazing art world, unique worldview and philosophy, unique manner of writing a work of art, thematic diversity and versatility. The lion's share of works has a pronounced sensual-erotic character, because the leitmotif of their plots was the eternal theme of love.
Romantic landscapes glorifying the unique Ukrainian nature and portraits of prominent personalities, many of which have long been a symbol of their nation and a certain era, also occupy an important place in the exposition. Among them are Mykola Gogol, Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Oleksandr Blok, Serhiy Yesenin, Volodymyr Mayakovsky and others. Many of the presented works are based on the plots of Ukrainian and world mythology, full of metaphors and allegories, imbued with Ukrainian authenticity and unique national color, as well as the amazing humor and sarcasm of their author. In addition, the exhibition provides an opportunity to make an interesting journey around the world, touch the heroic and tragic pages of national history, and, following the great example of Felix Mykhailovych, rise above the daily hustle and bustle and reflect on the essence of our existence.
