On July 1, 2021, the exhibition "Memories of the Old Town" was opened at the Art Museum. After all, on this day Ukraine traditionally celebrates the Day of Architecture and the Art Museum could not miss the opportunity to open a thematic exhibition dedicated to this holiday, once again reminding the people of Kropyvnytskyi of a unique historical heritage - architectural painting of the old city. Strict Zinovievsk, and dreamy Kirovograd, and now in modern Kropyvnytsky serve us with you.
Architecture - the art of creating structures that form a spatial environment for human life and activity. The peculiarity of the architectural presentation of our city is the combination of various stylistic trends both on one street "next door" and in one building. From the end of the XVIII century. the city was built up with buildings in the style of classicism, gothic, modern, eclectic, with elements of baroque and neo-rus style. Quite unusual for our region is the Moorish style, which organically fits into the architectural portrait of old Elizavetgrad.
City Hospital №3, or "Goldenberg Hospital", and the city synagogue are vivid examples of this "in reality" and in the format of our exhibition. A series of works depicting the synagogue consists of works by Caesar Hanushkevych "Mythical Courtyard", Halyna Khmel "City Street", Olexandr Lutskevich "Synagogue in Kropyvnytskyi", Andrian Babyuk "Synagogue", and the mysterious facade of the third hospital was painted by artist from Kyiv, Svitlana Gramm. Widely recognized pearl of the architectural heritage of our city is its historical center. The journey to the old town begins from the central square, where the city boulevard used to be. From there and now you can walk on Dvortsova and Velyka Perspektyvna streets, turn to Gogol Street, or Pashutinska Street, and the architectural passport of the region's history can be easily read at each of the above-mentioned places.
However, no less interesting surprises were prepared by the prospect of the central platform. The exhibition "Memories of the Old Town" presents the usual views of the townspeople from a new angle. Works by Alla Khmel "Sunny City", Anatoliy Kimnatnyi "The city of Kirovograd. Gogol Street ", Leonid Bondar's" House with a Spire ", Anatoly Zhytaryuk's " The Transfiguration Cathedral "are a clear confirmation of that. It is impossible to ignore the beauty of the building of the Marko Kropyvnytsky Theater in the works of Anatoly Kimnatnyi, Natalia Solovyova and Mateychuk and the picturesque image of the Art Museum by Serhyi Shapovalov in the work "The Art Museum in Kropyvnytskyi". Kropyvnytskyi's architectural history is multifaceted. Each seemingly cold building is a witness to great events and changes that over the centuries live in the memories of people engraved in archival documents, remaining a unique architectural brand and an interesting tourist attraction of our region.
