On July 30, 2021, an exhibition of works by a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Leontiy Orlyk (1936-2012) dedicated to the 85th anniversary of his birth was opened at the Museum of Arts.
The artist was born on July 31, 1936 in Kirovograd (Kropyvnytskyi) in a working class family. He began his career as a mining foreman at the Comintern mine, then worked as a design technician at the Kryvbasproekt Institute, and at the same time attended a studio of fine arts in Kryvyi Rih, and later in Kirovohrad. But the desire to draw professionally led him to the Moscow Correspondence People's University of Arts. NK Krupskaya, after which he began working in art and production workshops of our city.
Over the years of hard work he grew significantly as an artist: his creative potential was gradually formed into very specific aesthetic orientations and worldviews, his own creative handwriting. Leontiy Ivanovych belongs to the generation whose creative growth occurred in the 60's - 80's of the last twentieth century. He was actively involved in creative life: he began working in the open air, on creative business trips. His works are united by the constant search for beauty and harmony in nature and man. The artist is a supporter of the realistic trend in art.
The paintings "Portrait of Vasyl Vasyliovych Koshel" (1965-1992), "Winter Concerns" (1986), "War and Labor Veteran", "Peonies", "Holy Place of Reason" (2005), "Evening Field" (1983) were presented at the exhibition. ), "Landscape of Village Subotka" - are landscapes, landscapes, portraits, thematic paintings. He reproduces time, appeals to the images of contemporaries.
The realism of Leontiy Orlyk's portraits has deep national roots and a very precise psychological characteristic of an ordinary person, unpretentious in everyday life, but wise and unique given the eternal values of life. And the nature recreated in Orlyk's landscapes is also a kind of simple, incomprehensibly mysterious and eternal, and the one you look at every day, but individually uniquely recorded by the artist's vision, sparkles with invisible to others facets of his wise charm. And therefore the attempt to understand nature, to penetrate into its secrets is inherent in its enchanting landscapes.
Leontiy Ivanovych is a participant of numerous All-Ukrainian autumn exhibitions, republican: "Picturesque Ukraine", "Always on the Alert", which exhibited paintings on various topics: "Autumn Evening", "Autumn in Vysokyi-Bayrak", "Subotka", "Summer", " Thorns are blooming ”,“ Morning at Sea ”,“ Granite Quarry ”,“ Inspection ”…
In 2011, the anniversary exhibition of Leontiy Ivanovych was opened in the Museum of Arts (Regional Art Museum), where the artist transferred to the museum funds all the works that were presented there. The artist died on March 2, 2012.
This exposition is a tribute to the memory of the famous artist-countryman, another opportunity to remember the work of Leontiy Ivanovych Orlyk, a bright representative of the Ukrainian art school, a true professional and patriot of his native land.
