On June 5, 2021 in Kropyvnytskyi Art Museum the grand opening of the exhibition "Cycling in Kirovohrad Region" took place. One of the signs of our present was that the army of fans of active cycling is growing every day. The trend towards increasing bicycle use has also been accelerated by the coronavirus pandemic and quarantine restrictions, which have created fear in people on public transport and prompted many to ride two-wheelers in the open air. This trend is typical not only for the countries of the Western world, because, say, the same Ukraine also does not lag behind European trends in cycling and cycling tourism in particular.
Every day more and more cyclists are on the streets of Ukraine in general and in Kropyvnytskyi in particular. Back in 2009, cyclists organized the first Veloden here, which is now traditional for the people of Kropyvnytskyi. Active work in this direction is carried out by the association "Velokrop" - a public association that includes connoisseurs of different types of bicycles with different capabilities. It was in this environment that the idea arose to organize an exhibition dedicated to cycling. Mykola Dyachenko, an amateur cycling enthusiast, became the author and ideological inspirer of the exhibition, and Andriy Palivoda, the head of the Velokrop public organization, supported his initiative and organized the exhibition.
To create the presented exhibition, every cyclist, regardless of cycling club or type of bicycle, was invited to share with their cycling friends and those who are just about to discover cycling photos from their cycling trips in their homeland. One of the best professional photographers of our region and connoisseurs of active tourism Oleksiy Kaprytsia, Oleh Shramko, Maksym Hutsalyuk, Oleksandr Mayorov were involved in the exhibition for the selection of photos. The selection took place online, and the jury members had no information about the authors of the photo.
Therefore, when choosing, they were guided solely by their knowledge, experience and their own creative worldview. As a result, out of almost 300 works, 48 of the best photos were included in the exhibition.
It should be noted that the works are not printed on photo paper, but on polymer. This is a modern printing press, which makes the exhibition interesting not only in terms of location and content of work, but also in terms of modern presentation of visual information. The exhibition presents photos from 11 former districts of Kirovograd region. Among the authors of the photos should be noted Artem Maidanyk, Alice Samsonova, Sergei Kovalchuk, Rostislav Maigur, Alexander Alexandrov, Roman Voronkov. The highlight and original addition to the exhibition was a real bicycle, kindly provided for display by the director of the Voskhod store, Olena Chornenka.
It should be noted that this is the first such exhibition for Kropyvnytskyi cycling community, so the organizers plan to make it an annual event.
So, dear friends, get on a bicycle, ride it, discover a new philosophy of Kropyvnytskyi's life, and everyone will see your photos in the best museum in the world - Kropyvnytskyi Art Museum.
