The idea to celebrate the Day of Monuments of History and Culture of Ukraine and the International Day of Monuments and Sites belongs to the International Council for the Protection of Monuments and Sites. The purpose of the festival was to draw public attention to the historical and cultural heritage of mankind. Each nation has its own unique culture and history, each subsequent historical period leaves monuments and mentions of a certain historical figure or event.
Ukraine has a long history, the traditions of the people have their roots in ancient times. Each generation of Ukrainians leaves and passes on to their descendants their own achievements and monuments, from one generation to another the experience, traditions, knowledge, memories and legends of the people's past are passed on. This is how the historical memory of the nation is laid, thanks to which the only history of the people is realized, which has its own historical area, its own language, culture, traditions.
Historical memory, based on monuments and sights, allows a person to feel like a descendant of his people and feel confident in the modern world. Respect for one's past, memorable events and outstanding historical figures contributes to the unification of society, gives citizens a sense of belonging to history. Each region has its own attractions - fortresses, buildings, monuments, palaces, ancient monasteries, and other historical and natural sites. All this is the cultural heritage of the country and is protected by law. The memorial and cultural space of Ukraine was formed throughout the development of the nation and acquired modern forms under the pretext of political and social processes. Visual elements of the historical memory of the Ukrainian people were formed together with the formation of the historical type of Ukrainians and continue to be formed today.
The task of modern Ukrainians is to preserve historical monuments for future generations through their restoration and protection, popularization of monuments and historical sites, creation of modern infrastructure, which helped to get acquainted with the monuments and historical sites of as many people as possible.
The exhibition "Pearls of the native land" presents an overview of the work of masters of the brush, who represent the historical and natural monuments of the region.
