On April 2, 2021, an exhibition of author's embroidery by Victoria Shkaboy "ThreadTricks" was opened in the department of the Art Museum - Art Gallery "World and Fatherland" named after Petro Ossovskyi
Victoria Shkaboy has been embroidering napkins, bracelets, shirts and participating in exhibitions for twelve years. During this time, the artist managed to develop a special style reminiscent of patchwork (patchwork), a unique color scheme and even her own technique - "elongated cross".
Victoria was born on February 3, 1986 in the city of Kirovohrad (now Kropyvnytskyi). In 2003 she entered Kirovograd State Pedagogical University. V. Vynnychenko (now the Central Ukrainian State Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Vynnychenko) at the Faculty of Philology and Journalism, which she graduated in 2008. During her student days she began to write for the newspaper Molodizhne Perekhrestya, later she worked as a journalist for the newspapers Kirovogradskaya Pravda, Vedomosti-Plus, and Narodne Slovo, and took part in various literary competitions.
The fascination with embroidery began almost by accident in the winter of 2009, and the attempt to understand why embroidery is called "meditation in Ukrainian" has grown into a matter of life. Searching for interesting ornaments on the Internet, experimenting with colors, a gradual transition to abstraction and exclusively author's schemes - this is the creative path of Ms. Victoria.
Two solo exhibitions, participation in numerous exhibitions and fairs of needlework, hundreds of sold and donated works, and many, many crosses that are rapidly filling the cells of the canvas. The unusualness and volume of the work is added by the technique of an elongated cross (when not one, but two cells are captured during embroidery, and the pattern seems to consist of bricks). This type of cross, like many others, has existed for a long time, but it is difficult to find work in this technique. Modernization of ancient folk art is a popular direction of needlework. The exhibition presents the works of the master, which appeared during 12 years of passion for embroidery. Napkins, bookmarks, stripes, covers, embroidered bracelets (baubles) and charms, kryzma, embroidered shirts - this is not a complete list of exclusive handicrafts. By the way, the consideration of multicolored napkins on canvas of different colors is a real color therapy.
The musical accompaniment of the event was provided by Oleksiy Pavlenko, who played the handpan - an instrument used, in particular, for meditation.
