On September 17, 2021, an exposition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Ukrainian painter Mykhailo Bozhiy (1911-1990) was opened in the department of the Museum of Arts - Peter Ossovsky Art Gallery "World and Fatherland".
As noted on the website www.odessa-memory.info: "In the second half of the last century in Odessa there was no more titled painter than Mikhail Mikhailovich: People's Artist of the USSR, a full member of the USSR Academy of Arts, a member of the USSR Verkhovna Rada of several convocations, Shevchenko laureate awards. Some highly valued his professionalism, natural talent, others believed that the high regalia of God he received for the creation of Leniniana ... "Whatever it was, but, Michael of God - is a recognized classic of national art.

Mykhailo Mykhailovych Bozhiy (September 20, 1911, Mykolaiv - January 1, 1990, Odessa) - artist, academician of the USSR Academy of Arts, People's Artist of the USSR (since 1963). Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR. T.G. Shevchenko.
He was born into a family of foundry workers. In 1930-1933 he studied at the Nikolaev Art College under the guidance of one of the leading artists of the Society of South Russian Artists and the Society. K. Kostandi Dmitry Krainev. After graduating from college he worked in zincography, participated in the decoration of Nikolaev. In 1936, invited by Odessa Film Factory, he joined a group of animators and moved to Odessa. He also worked as an artist at the Frunze Children's Cinema in Odessa. From 1938 he made his debut as an artist, exhibiting his own works at art exhibitions. During the Second World War in 1941-1945 he made posters for "TARS Windows".
In the postwar years he was an artist of art and production workshops at the Art Fund of the USSR. He has been a member of the board of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1958. Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts (since 1958), full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (since 1962), People's Artist of the USSR (since 1963). Laureate of the State Prize of the USSR. T. Shevchenko (1974). Marked by government awards.
He worked in the field of easel painting. His works are well-known: "Portrait of the People's Artist of the USSR L. Morynets-Matsievska" (1947), "Excellent Svetlana Shipunova" (1950), "Tanya, don't blink!" (1954), "Nurse" (silver medal at the International Exhibition in Brussels (1958), "Beethoven" (1968-1969), "O.S. Pushkin and A.P. Kern" (1979), one of the paintings of Shevchenko`s cycle “My Thoughts, My Thoughts” (1959-1960). Michael of God worked in all genres of fine arts, but his focus as an artist was on portraiture.
The exposition presents a female portrait from the museum's stock collection, painted in 1967. This canvas reveals to the viewer the talent of M. Bozhiy as a subtle colorist, able to create high poetic images in the language of paints, presents the master as a continuation of realistic traditions of national art and the best traditions of world masters of painting.
