Sculpture is a unique art form associated with the creation of three-dimensional art forms in real space, which is why the sculptor relies on the practice of plasticity of the volume of a figure and object in real space.

According to the great Michelangelo, sculpture is the first of the arts, and the first sculptor is God, who molded Adam from clay. The history of sculpture in its modern sense began with one of the earliest civilizations of ancient Egypt, this art reached its heyday and perfection in classical Greece. Large sculptures of antiquity created figures of gods and heroes of the Olympics.

The name of Arkady Matsievsky occupies a worthy place among the constellation of famous artists of Kirovograd region. The Art Museum (Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum) is not the first to turn to the work of the famous sculpture, namely in January, 2007 the opening of the exhibition of a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Arkady Yukhimovich Matsievsky (1931-2006). The exhibition featured 39 photographs of monumental sculptures and 27 easel sculptures of the artist.

Arkady Yukhimovich was born on May 19, 1931 in the village of Bobryk, Lyubashiv district, Odessa region. In 1953, the future artist graduated from the sculpture department of the Odessa State Art School. Since 1960, the sculptor has taken an active part in art projects and art exhibitions. From 1964 Arkady Yukhimovich was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, and from 1991 - a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Since 1970, the sculptor's life has been closely connected with the former Kirovograd, he began working as a sculptor of art and production workshops of the art fund. In 1980, Arkady Matsievsky won the Yuri Yanovsky Prize. In 1998 he was awarded a diploma of the first degree at the competition "Talents of Kirovograd region" and numerous awards.

Sculptures by Arkady Matsievsky can be seen today on the streets of modern Kropyvnytskyi, including the monument to the victims of Chernobyl, the monument to the tram of Yelisavetgrad and others. The virtual exposition "Magic of Hands" presents sculptural works by Arkady Yukhimovich Matsievsky: "Partisan Scout J. Strenchenko"; bust «P.K. Vasilina »; "Naked in Chair"; "Under the Helmet"; sketch for the work "Monument to the Fallen Soldiers".
