October 2, 2020 in the department of the Art Museum - Art Gallery "World and Fatherland" named after Petro Ossovskyi, on the eve of the celebration of the International Animal Day, an exhibition "Animals are our friends" was opened. The decision to celebrate the International Animal Day was made on October 4 at the International Congress of Nature Advocates, held in Florence (Italy) in 1931. Animal protection societies in many countries around the world have declared their readiness to organize mass events every year to protect the environment and increase activity in animal protection. In Ukraine, the Day of Protection of Animals, which is one of the important components of the environment and ecosystems, is also celebrated every year on October 4 since 2000. World Animal Day is an occasion to remind people of their responsibility, to raise public awareness of the need to protect animals.
The Art Museum also joined the celebration of this holiday presenting an exposition of works from the stock collection of the Museum of Arts with the image of animals "Animals are our friends". Images of animals in painting, sculpture, graphics are called animalistic genre. An artist who specializes in this genre is called an animalist. He focuses on the artistic and figurative characteristics of the animal, but at the same time with scientific accuracy conveys its anatomical structure. The famous artist - compatriot Vladimir Alexandrovich Fedorov (1920-1986) in his work "Spring Sun" (1965) depicted a cat that washes under the rays of the spring sun. The exhibition also presents the works of Pavel Oleksienko (1979-2016) "Blue-eyed" (2013) and "Moon Cat" (2015). Pavel Oleksienko's paintings show the deep meaning of things and the author's view of phenomena and objects, and do not reflect them as they exist in real life. It is felt in all works, attracts the eye, makes you think. Everyone will see their reality in these paintings.
A prominent place in the exhibition is occupied by the work of Alexander Petrovich Schwabe (1824-1872) "Image of a black dog" (1843). Alexander Schwabe - animalist, painter, battler. He painted images of horses and dogs of famous people. The artist was a fan of nature and animals. In his works he tried to reflect this love. Also in the exhibition you can see the work of Max Avdiyovych Birstein (1914-2000) "Interior" (1972). The artist worked in genres: still life, portrait, landscape, interior - often combining them in one composition.
The exhibition "Animals are our friends" dedicated to the World Animal Day reminds us of our younger brothers and so that we do not forget that we are one big family on a small planet and by doing good deeds, helping animals, we help ourselves.
We invite everyone to the Art Museum to see the exhibition.
