On December 7, 2020, the Museum of Arts opened an exhibition of reproductions of paintings "Family Origins. Kateryna Bilokur ”to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Kateryna Vasylivna Bilokur (1900-1961).

Daughter of Ukraine Kateryna Bilokur - Ukrainian artist, master of folk - decorative painting, a representative of "folk primitivism" ("naive art") was closely associated with his native land. In her paintings she told the world about the inexhaustible talents and spiritual beauty of the Ukrainian people. Art critics put Kateryna Bilokur on a par with prominent primitive artists: Henri Rousseau, Ivan and Joseph Generalich, Maria Pryimachenko, Niko Pirosmanishvili Bilokur painted everything that surrounded her, everything that she loved: the land, horses, people, but most of all - flowers. Interestingly, accurately depicting each leaf, petal, the artist never plucked flowers: she considered them living beings, called them children. She could go far to draw exactly the ones she liked. And she always painted only from nature - she was firmly convinced that if she broke the flower, she would lose her soul, and she would be dead on the canvas as well. She called the drawing "holy".

The exhibition presents: reproductions of paintings by Kateryna Bilokur: "Self-portrait" (1950), "Flowers behind the fence" (1935), "Wheat, flowers, grapes" (1950-1952), "Watermelon, carrots, flowers" (1951), " Still life with spikelets and a jug "(1958-1959). The work of the amateur artist from the village of Pomichna, Dobrovelychkivskyi district, Kirovohrad region, Nadiya Ivanivna Padurska (b. 1943) "In memory of Kateryna Bilokur" (canvas on cardboard, oil, 56 x 40 (cm)) (transferred by Ruzhanska TV in 2015 ).

Nadiya Ivanivna's work is in tune with Kateryna Bilokur's work. Nadiya Ivanivna even painted a portrait of the artist. When she received an album of works by Kateryna Bilokur, Nadiya Ivanivna felt a real celebration of flowers: as if they grew alive in the pages of the book. This was a significant impetus to creativity. Since then, Nadezhda herself began to look closely at each stalk, flower, and even more tried to draw like that. In 1993, an exhibition of works by Nadiya Padurska was opened at the Yahotyn State Historical Museum.

Fourteen postcards from the set "Painting of Belokur" of the Yahotyn Historical Museum. Art Gallery., Which was donated in 2020 to the stock collection of the Museum of Arts by Kateryna Bilokur's granddaughter Olga Bezkrovna (Bilokur), popular science publication Avramenko OO "Bilokur" of the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Art. Kyiv, 2020.

Kateryna Bilokur had a rare gift of an artist - an absolute sense of color. Her artistic style was formed in the early 30's, and remained almost unchanged throughout all the years of her career. The artist's homemade thin brushes contributed to the delicate writing brought to virtuosity: the brushstroke in the paintings is smooth, and the colors in her works seem to glow. Experts believe that nobody has been able to repeat her style yet.
