The exhibition of works “Kateryna Matsiievska’s Bright Moments” in memory of the artist (1991-2018)
On April 8, 2019, in the department of the Kirovograd Regional Art Museum, Peter Ossovskii Art Gallery "World and Fatherland", an exhibition of works "Kateryna Matsiievska's Bright Moments”, in memory of the artist (1991-2018), began its work.
Kateryna Matsiievska was born in 1991 in Kirovograd. Her childhood passion for drawing led her to the studio “Soniashnyk” in 2001 at the regional center for children's and youth creativity, and later to the Kirovohrad City Children's Art School named after Oleksandr Osmorkin.
Since 2008, Kateryna studied at the Kirovograd Institute of Regional Management and Economics, at the Design Department, and in 2012 she received bachelor's degree with high honours.
She continued her study at the Kirovograd Faculty of Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts and in 2013 she graduated from the university.
During her study, she participated in art exhibitions and competitions, where she time and again won. In 2012, she participated in the art event "Spring En Plein Air at Dendropark" and took 1st place among students.
The lessons of the wonderful artist and teacher Iryna Zantariya greatly influenced on the formation of creative potential and own vision of the young artist. Furthermore, the exhibition also features not only Kateryna Matsiievska’s works, but also copies of paintings by American artists Edward Hopper, Diane Leonard and Jimmy Lawlor.
After graduation, Kateryna worked as a stone engraver, but drawing was always her passion.
She passed away in April 2018, leaving behind her bright memories and paintings, "Kateryna Matsiievska's Bright Moments”. The exhibition of works, which was opened within the walls of the Regional Art Museum, is dedicated to the anniversary of Kateryna’s passing.
