On November 1, 2018, the Kirovograd Regional Art Museum opened a regional exhibition of decorative and applied arts “Country of Masters” devoted to the All-Ukrainian Day of Cultural Workers and Masters of Folk Art. This exhibition project was launched as an annual creative report of the masters of folk art of Kirovohrad region.

Reference:

The National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine was created in 1990 in order to preserve the ornamental heritage and support the further development of folk art. In the period from 1990 to 2004, it was headed by the People's Artist of Ukraine Priadko Volodymyr Mykhailovych. And since 2004, the Chairman of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine has been the Honored Man of Art of Ukraine, master of wooden art, researcher of folk art, lexicographer, Chairman of the State Art and Expert Council on Folk Arts, Shevchenko Yevhen Ihorovych.

The union cares about the development of all kinds and genres of folk art of Ukraine Among its activities, this organization provides work to identify masters of traditional crafts and involve them in cooperation, organize exhibitions and festivals of folk art, participate in various creative competitions, perpetuate the memory of outstanding folk artists, art historians, promote professional and moral development of creative youth. As of today, 20 regional centers of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine have been created.

On June 18, 2010, in the framework of activities to create a center of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine in the Kirovograd region, the regional art museum opened the first regional exhibition of works of decorative and applied art in order to promote the creation of the Kirovograd Regional Center of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine. In May of 2013, the second reporting exhibition of works was held, in August of 2015 – the third one, in November of 2016 – the fourth one, and in November of 2017 – the fifth one. Therefore, the regional art museum for the sixth time represents the work of our local craftsmen.

The irreplaceable, energetic coordinator and inspirer of the Kirovograd Center of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine is Prenko Oleksandra Ivanivna, the Honored Master of Folk Arts of Ukraine, an excellent pupil, teacher-psychologist, participant of many exhibitions of arts and crafts not only in Ukraine but also abroad.

The Regional Center consists of 93 masters of various types and genres of contemporary folk art from all over the region.

Since 2010, folk craftsmen have been constantly participating in the All-Ukrainian contest “The Best Work of the Year" (Kyiv), numerous exhibitions, competitions, festivals, fairs, other cultural and artistic events of the All-Ukrainian, regional and local levels. Their works are presented in the catalog “Folk Art “The Best Work of the Year.”

As of now, there are 26 members of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine in Kirovohrad region: Oleksandra Prenko, Olha Kolomiets, Valentyna Dobrovolska, Viktoriia Pukhinda, Tetiana Storozhenko, Larysa Harbuzenko, Larysa Kulinich, Yuliia Malezhyk, Olena Yushchyshena, Olha Kravchenko, Viktoriia Reznichenko, Alla Rudenko, Oksana Harbuzenko, Iryna Nikolova, Svitlana Pasashkova, Oleksandra Derenovska (Kropyvnytskyi), Hryhorii Pylypyshyn (Haivoron), Dmytro Kudria (Oleksandria), Serhii and Olha Yakovenko, Serhii Tkachov, Dina Hetmanets (Dolynska), Larysa Zorina, Tetiana Dobrovolska (s.m.t. Novhorodka), Tetiana Mozdolevska, Svitlana Piskova (s.m.t. Nova Praha). To our great regret, the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine in Kirovohrad region lost one of the talented members - in January of 2018,  an amateur artist Viktor Luhanshchuk has gone to a better world. To commemorate the maestro his works were presented in the exhibition "Country of Masters."

We would like to remind that among the members of the NUoFAMoU were such original artists as Zhanna Maikhrovska (1946-2014) - a master of goldwork, who is listed in the book "The Best Women of Ukraine" (2000), awarded the Badge of the Third Class of the Order of Princess Olga and the Order of St. Volodymyr, as well as Andrii Lipatov (1960-2010) – a unique painter, master of "naive art."

The exhibition, opened in the art museum, presents the best achievements of the masters of folk art of the older generation, creative youth, as well as applicants for the membership in the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine.
