The personal exhibition of the pictures of our countryman David Yampolsky was hosted in the regional art museum having the eloquent title "This is My Mainz" on the 3rd of May in 2018.
This exhibition tells visitors about the "second home" of the artist, Mainz - the German city.
Reference: David Yampolsky was born on 18th of March in 1954 in Kirovograd (Kropivnitsky), studied at secondary school No. 14, then studied in Kirovograd music school in 1970-1974, and he entered the music and pedagogical faculty of the Kirovohrad State Pedagogical University named after A. Pushkin in 1975, after which he worked at a general school №18 as a teacher of singing, headed a photo studio in a vocational school №4, later taught musical disciplines in the school in Ukrainka village of Kirovohrad region. Since 1999, David Yampolsky has lived in Germany in Mainz (the capital of the federal state Rheinland-Pfalz). David Yampolsky always made photos, as he recalls, none of the wallpapers in Kirovohrad musical college or at the music and pedagogical faculty of the Kirovohrad State Pedagogical University wasn`t without photos during his studying. At home, David Yampolsky created a real photolaborator - manifested, washed, dried film, made pictures, went to bed almost in the morning, after a few hours, went to an educational institution to show students his masterpieces.
«This is my Mainz» - the second personal exhibition of the photographer in Ukraine and in his hometown in particular. The first was opened on 27th of April in 2017 in the Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum having the title "Photographers of David Yampolsky". There are five personal photo exhibitions in particular in Mainz and Getinge (Germany) on the creative work of the artist.
The author of photography loves to walk in a neat, quiet and always well-groomed Mainz in any time of the year, sometimes during daylight, and sometimes under the moonlight. He walks through the streets, alleys, corners, where everyday ordinary dwellers go to work, shop or walk in front of a dream, enjoy the views that excite the feeling giving a new perception of architectural complexes, surrounding landscapes, thanks to which David Yampolsky manages to capture incredible angles, to emphasize separate items and show a different face to the local citizens.
The exhibition presents 41 photographs devoted to the architecture of the central part of the city, which is a real miracle of "frozen rock music" and bright landscapes. The works convey the atmosphere of Mainz through the sensitive lens of the photomaster, reflecting the "advertising face" of the city, its so-called "business card". Particular attention is drawn to a number of works depicting the Cathedral of the Saints Martin Tursky and Stefan from different angles. He has an interesting history associated with the artist Mark Chagall (1887-1985) whose stained glass windows decorated famous cathedrals in Israel, France, Bulgaria, the United States. Germany was the only country with which the artist refused to work, because of the extermination of millions of Jews during the time of Nazism. The "German boycott" lasted until 1978, while the artist did not give up the request of priest Klaus Meyer and did not take up work on stained-glass windows during the restoration of this cathedral. It was a step of reconciliation. It is also striking in its appearance on the photo of Theodor Hoyes Bridge, which connects the central part of Mainz (the capital of the Germanic land of Rhineland-Palatinate) with the Mainz-Castel district of the city of Wiesbaden (capital of the Land of Hesse). The art of landscape is presented a multidimensional genre in photography, since not every photographer makes his own photograph of the landscape, David Yampolsky succeeds, he is a wonderful sensual artist, feels the nature he takes, before he makes a photo he already knows that he will emerge in this and his style manifests in it.
Also the artist is planning a separate photo exhibition devoted to Jewish folk musicians.
In general, the exhibition "This is My Mainz" makes possible to make a photo trip to "the second homeland" of David Yampolsky and represents a bright blast of emotions, causes incredible feelings, full of joy in life.
