The Art Fantasies of Volodymyr Kirianov

On August 15, 2018, in the Oblast Art Museum an exhibition of works "Art fantasies of Volodymyr Kirianov" was opened on the anniversary of the death of our famous artist, the legendary and beloved distinctive artist, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the winner of the Oleksandr Osmorkin oblast awards in the field of fine arts and art studies. This is Volodymyr Vasylovych Kirianov. 

The inexorable time has already counted the whole calendar year since the moment when the soul of the man, teaser and professional, whose works strike by his infinite creative imagination and peculiar sense of humor of the artist, who passed into the Eternity.  After all, Volodymyr Vasylovych was one of the highly professional masters, whose philosophical world perception, often at the level of merciless sarcasm, was not clear to everyone. But at any rate, the filigree works of the artist, woven with his witty humor, had no chance to keep anybody indifferent. The unique artistic world created by the artist still raises many questions that the thoughtful observer is trying to find an answer to. On the other hands, the art that makes a person think is a great power, aimed to destroy the herding feeling and the develop proper individualism.  

The formula of creative success and boundless popularity of Volodymyr Kirianov includes a God given talent multiplied with hard work, constant self-improvement and vigour. Even after becoming one of the best  graphic artists of modern Ukraine, the artist managed to avoid the "star strike", remaining simple and communicative. And such people can not, but be loved. His warmth, a bit ironic smile, the positive energy, that he was charging everyone with, are still remembered, as well as joy one received from communicating with a funny, inteligent man. 

It is pleasant to realize that Volodymyr Kyrianov was our countryman, born in the city of Kirovohrad on March 15, 1951.

Since childhood, the boy emited love to music, technical creativity, and later, as all gifted people, many times faced difficult choices regarding his further life path. Therefore, it is not surprising that after school he changed several educational institutions until he made the final choice in favor of fine art. In the mid-1970 's he studied at the Art Department of the Leningrad Anatoliy Lunacharskiy Institute of theatre, music and cinematography, where he aquired the bases of his unique creative "I".

Later he became one of the brightest representatives of Ukrainian art elite, whose undeniable talent was officially confirmed in 1992, with the status of a member of the National Union of artists of Ukraine. Volodymyr Vasylovych actively participated in numerous exhibition projects at various levels, including the 4-th exhibition of book graphics "Artist and book" (Kyiv, 1983), international Biennale "Impreza-89", "Impreza-91" (Ivano-Frankivsk), artists' exhibition within the framework of the Year of culture of Ukraine in Russia (Moscow, 2002).

Being an excellent illustrator, the artist collaborated with various publishing houses both on the territory of Ukraine and abroad. He provided illustrations to the books of Valerii Sidniv "12th kilometer" and "The Snail on the Blades" (Kiev, Fact Publishing House, the series "Ovid's Zone" (2008); of Viktor Shylo "Practice: 1962-1991 "(1991) and "Blade of Needle " (1999); M. Somov "Latin, by the way. Dictionary of Latin Expressions "(1992), Oleksandr Zhovna "Widdow"(1996), Hryhorii Huseinov "Station Pastorals. Confession of Childhood "(1991) and others. Indisputable creative luck can be considered artis's participation in the decoration of first edition of poems, released at the beginning of 90-s with the scanty circulation. These were the poems, written by the poet Osip Mandelstam, who was exiled during Stalin's dictatorship. 

Volodymyr Vasylovych completely deserved his glory and multiplied it by creating numerous caricatsure and humorous pictures, that for some period of time were published in almost each of Kirovohrad publications. 

Fortunately, the Government praised the creative achievements of the artist and he was gifted with numerous awards, including the diploma of the Ministry of culture and tourism (2004) and the diploma of the Kirovohrad Oblast State administration and Kirovohrad Oblast Council (2006), but the best reward for him were those positive emotions and impressions, emited by audience after noticing his works.

By the way, we still remember frenetic excitement, caused by the personal exhibition of Volodymyr Vasylovych, which was opened on April 19, 2011, in the Kirovohrad Oblast Art Museum on his 60-th anniversary. It is nice to realize that cooperation with our museum became an important page in the creative life of the Great Master, who was not afraid to participate in numerous joint artistic projects, charging all present with their unchanging positive. 

The exhibition "The Art Fantasies of Volodymyr Kirianov" clearly illustrates the scale of the talent of the artist, his distinctive philosophical vision of the world, sparkling humor, satiricality and grotesqueism of the wonderful artistic world, created by him. Still, that world remained a mystery for many people. 43 graphic works are presented in the exposition, 8 of which are an invaluable part of the collection of the Oblast Art Museum. The picturesque block consists of 13 paintings, the authors of which are the wife and children of the artist. Liubov Hruhorivna Kirianova presented 7 works, representing a remarkable specimin of highly professional realistic art. The creativity of the daughter Maryna is represented by 5 paintings, which give an idea of the creative "I" of the artist, who entered Eternityso soon. One more work was presented by the son of Volodymyr Vasylovych - Oleksandr.

Part of the exposition consists of interesting information and illustrative material, in particular - numerous photos that complement the idea of Volodymyr Kyrianov as a person and artist, and reflect the pages of his life and creative path.
