On December 18, 2017, the exhibition "At the End of Life" dedicated to the bright memory of a public figure, ethnographer, philanthropist and collector Victor Petrakov was opened in the department of the regional art museum - the art gallery of Peter Ossovsky "The World and the Homeland".
Victor Vasilyevich lived a very rich life, which often resembled a marathon without stops and rest, forcing once again to recall the words of the famous song "There is only an instant ..". It is still surprising how he could make it so much, withstand the seemingly unbelievable pace and at the same time, in spite of any difficulties and challenges, remaining an unmanageable livelihood, full of energetic energy and sunshine, which involuntarily charged all others.
This indomitable enthusiast was born on December 17, 1947 in Vasylkiv, Kyiv region. In 1969 graduated from the Kirovohrad State Pedagogical Institute, in 1977 - Poltava Pedagogical Institute.
It is pleasant that his work activities were also connected with our region, namely, the cities of Kirovohrad and Svitlovodsk, after which he was invited to Moscow, where he worked at the Central Committee of the Komsomol in the sector of the "Olympiad-80", responsible for the development of children's sports in Department of sports and defense work, was a member of the Presidium of the Federation of Sailing and Chess of the USSR. An indicator of the worthy assessment of the work of Viktor Petrakov in this difficult field can be considered that he was eventually sent to Laos as an advisor on the development of the youth movement, entrepreneurship and tourism, after training at the Center for Management and Innovation of the Institute of Youth.
But the fruitful cooperation of Victor Vasilyevich with our museum, which gradually grew into sincere friendship, contributed precisely to the fact that from 1996 to 2012 he was working in the system of the National Service for the preservation of cultural values, having traversed the way from the deputy head to the directly head of the Roshoculture and made a lot of efforts to establish a system for controlling the movement of cultural property and organize work on the licensing of antique trade and the creation of a civilized antique market. Special thanks to Victor Yushchenko for his work on the search and return of works of art that had been stolen from museum and private collections or those that were illegally assigned, as it was because of this that many true pearls of art were returned to Ukraine, in particular, the frescoes of the Mikhailovsky Golden-Domed Cathedral and the unique icon of the fifteenth century, which returned to the National Museum in Lviv named after Andriy Sheptytsky after the abduction in 1984.
It is hard to overestimate what Victor Vasilyevich did for our Steppe Hellas, not in a word, but in a business constantly proving his love for her. It was he who helped solve the issue of transportation through the Russian-Ukrainian border of the collection of works of the artist-compatriot Peter Ossovsky, which enabled to open on May 18, 2007 the department of the regional art museum - the art gallery of Peter Ossovsky "The World and the Fatherland", whose works do not cease to impress with their uniqueness real connoisseurs of "strict style".
Significant is the fact that Victor Vasyliovych became a laureate of the Volyn Yastrebov regional lore premium for the book Little Paris. Elisavetgrad in an old postcard "(2004), to which today citizens are not indifferent to the history of their city. In 2010, another book by Petrakov "Lev Matsievich. Memorable book. Biography. Documents Publications »dedicated to the prominent engineer and aviation engineer.
For a separate appreciation from the admirers of the work of the artist-fellow-countryman Vladimir Fedorov deserves the fact that Victor Petrakov became the initiator and author of the idea of publishing the album "Kirovograd region in the works of Volodymyr Fedorov," which presentation was held in the regional art museum on February 28, 2014.
The pages of the history of our Steppe Hellas came to life in numerous articles and monographs of Victor Vasilyevich. He also issued a series of leaflets about our prominent countrymen - Alexander Osmorkin, Peter Ossovsky, Arseniy Tarkovsky, Alexander Ilyin and others.
As a result of the fruitful cooperation of Viktor Petrakov with the famous medalist-sculptor, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Vyacheslav Popov became a series of medals devoted, again, to our prominent fellow countrymen. Additionally, Vyacheslav Popov, in his time, created the commemorative medal "Always in the Movement" to the 55th anniversary of Viktor Vasilievich, which very aptly portrayed the vital credo of the jubilian, whose marvelous marathon struck everyone. Interesting meetings with artists and land managers, presentations, celebrations, performances on television, radio ... But I have time to hand out the numerous gifts that he certainly brought for museums, libraries and archives of our city. Sometimes it seemed that this wonderful person fills all of the environment, sincerely regretting that in just 24 hours.
It is gratifying that Viktor Vasilyevich's sovereign activity was appreciated by numerous awards, among them, the Order for Merits of the III degree (2006) and the Order for Merits (2012). But there is not the greatest reward for man than memory and gratitude of descendants. So let's remember a man who, unlike many others, preferred the sacrificial burning, which is a manifestation of true patriotism and a worthy example for imitation.
At the exhibition "On the verge of life" presented at the regional art museum, the visitor will be able to see interesting photos that present the life of Victor V. from childhood to the mature years, warm relations with relatives and friends close to him, participation in artistic events, presentations, etc., invitation to some from them - presented nearby. A special feeling is the photo of Petrakov's latest book, "The Captain of Podushkin and his postcards", which saw the world after the death of Victor Vasilyevich.
In the exposition you can also see Victor Medvedev transferred to the museum table medals, among which the above is Always in motion, as a worthy illustration of his chosen life path - heavy, worthy and sacrificial at the same time.
And this way is continued by his family, thanks to which cooperation with the funds of the regional art museum after the death of Viktor Petrakov was transferred to more than 200 unique materials, which is a wonderful manifestation of the best traditions of Orthodox patriotism.
