"My World is My Truth"

On December 21, 2017, the Kirovograd Regional Art Museum hosted the opening of the exhibition of painting and graphic works "My World is My Truth" by the People's Artist of Ukraine Mykhailo Nadsezhdin. The exhibition is dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the artist's creative activity and the 20th anniversary of the awarding of the honorary title "folk" to the artist.

Mikhail Nadezhdin is a well-known Ukrainian artist, whose creative practice influences the development of contemporary fine arts.

Born May 18, 1935 in the village of. Kostyantynivka of the Hoten district in Sumy region in a large family of peasants. Children and adolescents spent in the city of Bilopilli, Sumy region. In 1962 graduated from Dnipropetrovs'k State Art College, painting and pedagogical department. Among his teachers is a fellow countryman, Yakiv Kalashnik, Honored Artist of Ukraine Mykola Rodzin, People's Artist of Ukraine Georgiy Chernyavsky.

 For more than ten years, the artist was engaged in teaching activities: at first he worked as a teacher of painting and drawing techniques at the Khotyn Pedagogical School (Zaporizhzhya) for two years, and later moved to Kirovograd for ten years to work as a teacher of the city's children's art school. Until 1989, together with our other renowned fellow countrymen, he worked at art-production workshops of the Ukrainian SSR Artistic Foundation in Kirovograd.

In 1988 he became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

From 1989 till 2015 he headed the Kirovograd regional organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, standing at its origins.

In 1994 he received the honorary title "Honored Artist of Ukraine", and in 1997 became a popular artist of Ukraine.

In 2005 Mikhail V. Nadezhdin became the winner of the regional awards in the field of fine arts and art critic named after Alexander Osmorkin in the category "New directions".

Since 2008, the decree of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Volodymyrovych has been granted a lifetime state scholarship as an outstanding figure of culture and art.

 Mikhail Nadezhdin participates in many regional, all-Ukrainian and international exhibitions. Works in the direction of avant-garde art. Mikhail Volodymyrovych's works are kept in museums of Ukraine, private collections of countries of Canada, the USA, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and others. Nadezhdin - the painter in the very essence of the word. For artist's creativity typical rethinking of traditional plots in painting, giving them a new artistic form.

Mikhail Nadezhdin's creative work reveals a separate page in the history of the formation of contemporary fine arts in Ukraine.

He is a bright representative of the wave of protest art of the 1960's. M. Nadezhdin is one of those rare Ukrainian artists whose philosophical understanding of the social conflicts of the present day was found in philosophical comprehension. The artist works a lot and with pleasure in almost all genres. Among his works are satirical and decorative compositions, paintings, portraits, industrial, urban and rural landscapes, still lifes. In general, the artist's creativity can be seen as a picturesque psychoanalysis of mankind, illuminating its hidden subconscious depths.

The exhibition presents paintings and graphic works of the wizard from the collection collection of the regional art museum, from the funds of the city artistic and memorial museum OO Osmorkin and the private collection of the artist, which are most significant in the work of the author and cover a time interval of almost half a century. In total, 48 works were presented in the exposition hall.

Among the paintings are portraits of the family members of the Nadezhdin - "Portrait of the mother" (1975), "Portrait of his wife. Faith "(1982)," Two figures. Spouses of the artist "(2015-2016). Also, a number of self-portraits, peculiar to the live transmission of emotions and feelings that the artist experienced during his writing: Self-Portrait (1962), Self-Portrait (2001), Self-Portrait in Space (2013), Self-Portrait (2015). The works of "Reflection", "Ukrainian Venus in Space and Time" (2016-2017), the drama of the satirical content "The Tongues Scratch" (2015), are attracted by the scenes and color scale.

Sincere emotions are a contemplation of beautiful still lifes - from the relief smears in pastoral technique, the "Peonions" (2010) blossom, reinforcing the intrigue of "Still life with a mask. Smacky "(2011)," August's Still Life "(2011) and others.

Among the works of the artist are presented graphic works of diverse subjects - "Near the window" (1969), "Two" (1969), "Creativity" (1972), etc.

The organic combination of works of various genres and techniques of execution creates a mysterious atmosphere that attracts spectators with a hidden meaning, that which the author wanted to convey, without fully revealing the subject of his images, forcing to speculate and fantasize.

 During the ceremonial opening of the exhibition, the first deputy chairman of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration Serhiy Kovalenko spoke to the artist who wished the artist many prolific years of creative activity, and the head of the Kirovograd Regional Council Oleksandr Chornoivanenko addressed the warm and sincere words. Also, the director of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Kirovograd Oblast State Administration Valentina Zhivotovska joined the greetings. Greetings addressed to Mikhail Vladimirovich Honored Journalist of Ukraine Bronislav Kumansky, Director of the City Art and Memorial Museum OO Osmorkin Vita Chernova, art critic, honored artist of Ukraine, son of the artist - Andriy Nadezhdin. The artist was warmly congratulated by the director of the State Archives in Kirovohrad Oblast Oleg Babenko and the Deputy Director of the Museum of Science Anna.
