«Is it a work of Shyshkin?»
Among the remarkable works of art that were presented different times in the regional art museum there are some resonant works, which admire a glance and cause extra questions. We have a painting "Rye" (canvas, oil, 139х252) of the prominent artist and countryman, bright representative of realistic painting Bronislaw Domashyn (1927-2000).
This work is professionally executed copy of the same name painting, whose author is a brilliant singer and artist of the brush beauty and grandeur of nature, Ivan Shyshkin. The original was written by the artist in the late nineteenth century under the influence and admiration of the seen field which is now kept at the State Tretyakov Gallery (I. I. Shyshkin "Rye" 1878, canvas, oil, 107х187).
During the museum excursion, stopping near the painting of Bronislaw Domashyn "Rye", I repeatedly had the opportunity to enjoy the reaction of tourists to this magnificent work, constantly getting asked "Is it a work of Shyshkin?". As for me, it’s the best assessment of the skills of our countryman.
It’s also very interesting, how the painting "Rye" was reached to the regional art museum and the determination of its authorship. It was referred to our museum by Kirovograd Regional Council in 2011and then residents and guests of our city got a unique opportunity to get acquainted with this wonderful product, because the museum staff transferred the uncovered picture in the centre of Kirovograd and it caused a great interest and even a violent reaction.
As it was mentioned, the authorship of the painting at that time has been not set yet. Fortunately, in January 2012, this represented work of art was seen by the guest of the museum – a daughter of Bronislaw Domashyn, Ludmyla Bronislavivna Bogdanovych, who immediately recognized the work of his father and remembered that she saw it in the studio and had the opportunity to observe how Bronislav Alexandrovych worked on it. This information, provided by the daughter of the great master, was a revelation and an additional cause for pride in our talented countrymen and also a symbolic relay of the different generations of famous artists.
