April 14, 2017, on the eve of Easter and the International Day of Monuments and Sites, The Day of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Ukraine in the Regional Art Museum unfolds the exhibition "Architectonics of Easter".
Easter will forever remain one of the most significant and most ancient holidays in history. Christians of all directions annually celebrate this holiday and look forward to it with immense impatience. It so happened that in 2017 the Orthodox and Catholics will celebrate this ancient Easter holiday on the same day -April 16th.It was this day from ancient times, symbolizing the arrival of spring, warm. Easter, like many other holidays, has become a combination of two faiths, Christian and pagan traditions. And to this day this combination is preserved in the beliefs and in the Easter ritual of Ukrainians.
Except for the spiritual component For Easter, festive food is important. Colored eggs which, according to ancient tradition, placed on sprouted greens, Easter cake, crepes, gingerbread, Oven-Baked Mutton, and Veal. This food in the national consciousness endowed with supernatural value and special force. A special Easter tradition is festive Colored eggs: pysanka, krashanka, drpanka, etc. Eggs, More precisely, krashanka were perceived, as a symbol of the sun, it was endowed with the ability to store and transmit life, and therefore in itself embodied the idea of the Resurrection. A lot of rituals, beliefs, and customs are associated with krashanka.
In the Church-folk tradition, Easter days are one of the most important dates of the commemoration of the dead, and a lot of rituals and beliefs associated with the cult of ancestors are confined to it. By the time of the feast, the believers are preparing for the seven weeks of the Great Lent. It is believed that these days the soul of the believer must heed the sufferings of the Lord. The last week before the holiday is called Passion Week, on which every day has its symbolic meaning. On the night of Christ's Resurrection, festive worship (Easter vigil of God) is celebrated with Easter, eggs and other dishes. Thereby the church blesses believers after a long fasting again to use "modest", it means eat no meatless meals. The rich Easter table has always been a symbol of heavenly joy and a symbol of the Lord's Supper.
Among the works presented on the exhibition are impressive paintings by V.V. Kozlov (1951) "Palm Sunday" (2006), A.M. Dvorskyi (1948-2010) "Still Life with Easter Eggs"(2001), S.F.Nikolenko(1941) "Easter soon" (2016). In these works, lovers of fine arts can not only see but also feel all the greatness and beauty of the great Orthodox holiday, Take a look at the Easter cakes and painted Easter eggs. Artists were able to convey the spirit of the holiday itself thanks to the means of fine art, the joy of spring resurrection and show the whole ritual cycle of Easter holidays.
On April 18, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Historical and Cultural Monuments, a holiday that was launched in 1999 aimed at raising awareness of the diversity of the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people and the need to preserve it for future generations. Each historical epoch leaves the future generations a legacy of architectural or historical monuments that keep references to certain remarkable events. There are a lot of monuments reminding us of the heroic and tragic events in our country, the duty of modern Ukrainians to preserve them so that the next generations could get acquainted with the past of their ancestors. So presented exhibition includes the exposition of works that focus on Easter.
Artistic works of A.D. Kimnatnyi "St. Joseph Church"(2006), S.A.Dryha(1960) "Morning Fog" (1999), M.I Huliaiev (1918-2003)"Summer. Lavra" (1975), acquaint visitors with beautiful architecture, acquainted with the art and traditions of building temples in Ukraine because these sacred buildings are special monuments of the national cultural heritage, they reflect and promote Due Ukrainian generations, and are living witnesses to the majestic sometimes tragic history of the Ukrainian nation.
The highlight of the exhibition is the artistic architectural landscapes of A.A. Danylov (1941-2011) "Easter" (1990), V.H. Plitin (1956) "Temple of Assumption" (1997), V.I. Osypenko (1958-2016)"Easter Night" (1994), S.F. Nikolenko (1941) "Klison.
The wonderful and exquisite works of M.I. Huliaiev (1918-2003) "Old Fortress" (2000) deserves attention. "On Pilgrimage"(1960),"Autumn Landscape with the Lavra" (1970), and V.B.Koval (1986) "Makariv Church in Kyiv" (2007).
