On 15 March 2016, we congratulate Volodymyr Vasyliovych Kyrianov on his 65th anniversary. Volodymyr is a graphic artist from Kirovohrad, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the winner of the regional prize in Fine Arts and Art Studies named after Oleksander Osmerkin in the nomination "New direction” (2010) and just an interesting man.

He is not talkative, but rich in creative accomplishment. Volodymyr gained the fame of "Kirovohrad Goya” not without reason: satire combined with mysticism, various chimeras and phantoms turn his works into real phantasmagoric worlds that make everyone think. Positive and philosophical outlook on life, so characteristic of the Ukrainian mentality is also intrinsic of many of the artist’s artworks.

On 19 April 2011 the first jubilee solo exhibition of the author’s pictures opened in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum, and represented pieces from different periods of his creative activity: from 1970 to 2010. The master of pen and brush, Volodymyr never stops on the way to self-improvement, having mastered not only mascara, pencil, and watercolors, but also, computer graphics, corresponding to the requirements of time.

Volodymyr Kyrianov became an illustrator of books “The Understanding of History” (1990) and “Practice: 1962–1991” (1991) by V. Shylo, “In Latin by the way. Dictionary of Latin expressions” (1992) by M. Somov, “Little Widow” (1996) by O. Zhovna, “Pastorals of railway stations. Confessions of Childhood” (1991) by H. Huseinov, etc. He participated in designing the first in Ukraine edition of poems by Yosyp Mandelshtam, repressed in Stalin-era, that were published in the early 90's with scanty quantity of copies. Kyrianov is not only the author of numerous caricatures and humorous drawings in almost all Kirovohrad newspapers, but also a repeated participant of regional, national and international exhibitions. He was awarded with diplomas of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, Kirovohrad Regional State Administration and Regional Council.

There are such works by Volodymyr Kyrianov available in the stock collection of the museum: illustrations to the story "How the Two Ivans Quarreled" (1983), "Rats" (1988), “The Feast of Stairs" (1990), "Felling" (1986), "The Dream or Lethargy of Conclusion", "Harmony of disorder" (2006) "Melancholy Stairs" (2006), "Fortress of Saint Elizabeth" (2001), "Prince Potemkin" (2000), and “The Artist" (2002) by M. Hohol. His pictures are the pride of Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum’s stock collection and of many private collections in Austria, Italy, Russia and France.

So let us greet Volodymyr Kyrianov on his anniversary and wish him creative inspiration and good health. Happy Birthday!
