The exhibition "Face to Face" by Sergiy and Olena Lytvyshko

"I'm wearing a special glove to grip the brush between my fingers. And Olena as my assistant helps me to do the right lines. I want to be an example for people like me. I want them to realize themselves. It’s a great pleasure for me" – Sergiy Lytvyshko.

 

         "My husband gave me the idea to buy a set for embroidery. I tried and I did it. Sergiy helps me to choose color threads, because I can confuse them, and also he recommends me what size to make picture. For me,  embroidery is a dialogue with the soul " – Olena Lytvyshko.

 

December 8, 2016 there was the first exhibition "Face to Face" by Sergiy and Olena Lytvyshko in Kirovograd Regional Art Museum.

The couple of the amateur artists Sergiy and Olena are the authors of the original paintings and embroidered works. They have disabilities. However, they help each other to create paintings. The husband draws, the wife embroiders. Since 2003, Sergiy has been living in a boarding house for war and labor veterans in the village Vlasivka of Svitlovodsk area, Kirovograd region.

Lytvyshko Sergiy Anatoliyovytch was born on November 17, 1962 in Simferopil, Crimea.

In 1962 he moved to a permanent residence in Kremenchug, graduated from the local boarding school by A. S. Makarenko. In 1981 – 1983 Sergiy served in the Soviet army. After the army he worked as an artist-engraver and as a graphic designer. In 1999 he was injured (compression fracture of the cervical spine). Now he uses a wheelchair, a man with a І group of disability. The meeting with his beloved became a new impetus for his active creativity, a kind of catalyst. They met in 2002 in the Poltava regional clinical hospital. Their views coincided in their attitude to life, the desire to live fully. After some time they joined their fate. They march through the life together, complementing, supporting and encouraging each other. Sergiy takes the inspiration for his creativity communicating with his wife, family and friends.

Overcoming the pain and inconvenience, with the help of his wife, Sergiy draws pictures using a special glove with which the brush is clamped between the thumb and forefinger.

Despite the disability, Sergiy has a great desire to create, open his soul and give a positive, share his feelings, emotions and spiritual experiences.

Sergiy Anatoliyovytch is a member of the three exhibitions: in the City Art Gallery (Kremenchuk, Poltava region), in the picture gallery of Natalia Yuzefovych (Kremenchug) and in the literary-memorial museum of Panas Mirnyi (Poltava, 2015).

Once upon a time, an employee of the Kremenchuk City Art Gallery Zoya Avramenko became a curator, exhibiting organizer of Sergiy. It was she who discovered Sergiy as an artist for connoisseurs of the painting art, prompting the artist to the development and improvement. Also Zoya popularizes his works.

Lytvyshko Olena Anatoliivna was born on September 20, 1981 in Chapaeve, Kharkiv region. She is visually impaired of the III Group. She is the master of the embroidery.

Olena owes to her husband by her artistic delight. Once, being treated in a sanatorium in Saki, Crimea, the couple visited an exhibition salon of goods for needlework with a probably prophetic name "A magic moment". Then they have acquired all necessary supplies and materials for embroidery. Since that time the creative path of embroiderer started. Today she shows her creative self-development, growing skills and a growing number of works that Elena offers her talent to fans.

The exhibition "Face to face" presents twenty paintings of Sergiy Lytvyshko and thirteen embroidered paintings in the technique of criss-cross of Olena Lytvyshko, which were performed during 2012-2016.

Sergiy is a congenital artist, the author of vividly-psychological portraits, works on philosophical themes, reflective pictures.  His interesting, not indifferent outlook on life helps to further portray on canvas the most original images, lines, shapes, emotions and helps to create an unusually animated paintings.

The exhibition has the most widely represented genre of the portrait: "Portrait of wife", "Portrait of grandchild", "Daniel", "Sonia", "Zoya," "Angelina", "Portrait of the friend", "Immortal true."

Reflective pictures: "Motherhood," "Night nymph", "Retro - party", "Life is a mask". How natural his paintings are written in animalistic genre: "Admiration", "Cat", "Frog," "Rooster".

Landscapes fascinate by its purity: "Poppy Field" and "Winter Landscape", a still life "Lily" and "Apple".

Embroidered works of Olena varies by the subtle lyricism: "Thunderstorm", "Fairy," "Lotus", "Sakura", "Baby", "Coffee lover", "The aroma of coffee," "Lady in the hat," "The Three Graces", "Dog", "Year of the horse", "Retro-mobile." Olena’s embroidered painting "The Secret Supper" is impressive in size (50 h1, 55 (cm).

And now the couple of artists is easy to distinguish from the other painters of brush and magic needles as the original authors of original works of art, by their irresistible thirst for life, creating and living, by own example they inspire many people who find themselves in difficult circumstances and who is experienced by a fate.

Unfortunately, the authors of the works were not able to be present at the opening of their exhibition, because of the deteriorating health of Sergiy. But thanks to the support of the artist’s familiars and friends the exhibition was held.

Warm words of support and admiration of the creative couple art were expressed by the deputy head of Svitlovodsk City Council on Housing Architecture and Construction Anna Nesterenko. A deputy director of Vlasivsky pension for war and labor veterans of the geriatric department of Svitlovodsk district, Kirovograd region Nadiya Nesterenko told about the artistic path of the pair as the amateur artists. Also at the opening ceremony for the artists there was the music, sounded in the performance of the famous bard Andriy Shulga. The opening of the exhibition was held in the chamber, cozy atmosphere. The museum staff and all who came to the exhibition wish good health and speedy recovery to Sergiy Anatoliyovytch.

During the conversation with Nadiya Nestorenko was revealed that Sergiy Anatoliyovytch, using a wheelchair, needs to replace the battery on the carriage, which has been recently failed. Without it, Sergiy physically can’t move independently. It’s very important for him.

So we appeal for support to all indifferent people and hope for their help.
