On 23 August, 2016 the exhibition of artworks of Kirovohrad regional organization of the National Union of Artist of Ukraine dedicated to Ukrainian Independence Day’s 25th anniversary “With Love to Ukraine” opened in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum.
Ukrainian Independence Day is a national holiday celebrated annually on the 24th of August after the adoption of the Act of Independence of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukrainian SSR which is considered to be the date of creation of the state of Ukraine in its present form.
For the first time Ukraine's Independence Day was celebrated on the 16th of July, 1991 as a memory that a year ago, on the 16th of July, 1990, the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine. At the same time on the 16th of July, 1990 the Verkhovna Rada of the USSR adopted a resolution "On the Day of Independence of Ukraine” (www.uk.wikipedia.org)
The exhibition features thematic artworks by Feliks Polonskyi, vivid portraits by Liudmyla Demydenko, typical Ukrainian landscapes by Andrii Khvorost, Valerii Davydov, Volodymyr Volokhov, Oleksander Demydenko, Vasylii Koval, Anastasiia Plitina, vibrant still life by Sergii Shapovalov, Yurii Vintenko, and Anatolii Kimnatnyi. Mykhailo Nadiezhdin’s and Andrii Nadiezhdin’s canvases appeal with their brightness and decorative value. The artworks by Ihor Smychek, Yurii Honcharenko, and Volodymyr Plitin are distinguished by their symbolism and authenticity. Eccentric ceramics by the Firsov family, the stained-glass window by Anatolii Punhin, images of Archangel Michael by Mariia Achkasova and Mother of God’s images by Olha Kolomiiets. A special place in the exposition was taken by the painting "My Motherland is Ukraine" by our famous countryman painter, one of the founders of the "severe style" in art, Petro Ossowskyi (1925-2015). The canvas is dedicated to Malovyskivskyi Raion - the place, where the artist was born. These works made in various styles and technics reflect the understanding of being involved in centuries-old history of Ukrainian people, the declaration of love for their country.
