The opening at the Art Museum of complete exhibition of this thematic direction was made possible due to systematic work on forming a collection of works by artists-patriots who have dedicated their works to their hometown, thus saying words of love to it. This fits into the overall concept of the museum towards patriotic education by the means of art. That's why part of the museum display has always been a thematic unit with eloquent title "Picturesque corners of our city", the picture of which not only reflect the Soviet period and the present days of town on the Inhul but also present examples of excellent, unique, highly professional pre-Soviet architecture that still has a presentable and winning appearance - especially against the backdrop of modern architecture. These architectural gems were born mainly in the second half of the romantic nineteenth century and tumultuous early twentieth century, becoming an illustration of the active Yelisavethrad architectural development, and in our time – important, main objects of the tour route for residents and visitors of the city.
That is why frequent recourse of Kirovohrad artists to samples of pre-Soviet architecture is quite logical and understandable phenomenon. Here is the capture and display of excellent work of human hands, the variety of architectural styles, the genius of the architects who created such unique masterpieces and, perhaps, a certain nostalgia for the era that present these wonderful homes, era, which differs with completely different worldview, moral standing, level of culture and so on. This topic is particularly relevant in terms of this year's celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the famous architect countryman Yakov Vasyliovych Pauchenko (1866-1914), who was to create a European face of our city on the brink of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. His contribution to the development of Yelisavethrad is eloquently evidenced by the words of the obituary: "The undeniable merit of Pauchenko is that he was the first in our city to give examples of the art architecture".
These are unique architectural masterpieces by Yakov Vasyliovych to make the bulk of the unique architectural ensemble of the central part of modern city, causing a sincere admiration of its guests and, in addition, a sense of pride in its residents.
They are the best monument to the outstanding master, and more a constant part of the Old Town and the relevant tour route. On projects of Yakov Pauchenko St. Anne Red Cross Hospital, the building of merchant Soloviov, theater "Illusion", Guest House, International Credit Bank, houses of doctors Meitus and Weissenberg, Hospital of Goldenberg, a hospital in Novomyrhorod, Ascension Cathedral in Bobrynets etc. In total it is more than 20 fixed objects, each of which is a real architectural gem.
So the goal of the regional art museum exhibition opening is tp commemorate Yakov Vasyliovych Pauchenko and other prominent architects of our city as well as great presentation of art works of Kirovohrad painters who do not get tired to praise their native land by means of fine arts, reflecting the unique pre-Soviet architecture of Yelisavethrad and specifics of Soviet area building of Kirovohrad. Visitors will be able to enjoy highly professional works by Volodymyr Fedorov "Kirovohrad. Construction of hotel "Kyiv" (1960s), "Kirovohrad. Karl Marx Street" (1969); Borys Vintenko "The city of Kirovograd. School number 30" (1978)," New buildings of Kirovohrad" (1978); Serhii Shapovalov "House of artist Olekandr Osmorkin" (1986), "At the Art Gallery" (1987), "Winter Day" (1992), "History Museum" (1992), "Street in Province" (1998), "Early Spring. The exhibition "The architectural images of our city through the eyes of Kirovohrad artists" is particularly acute because of the sound of our complex, depressed, actually - wartime. The above-mentioned works of art are filled with life-affirming positive and sincere patriotic feelings, which is of great patriotic educational value in terms of external aggression. There are no doubt about historical and educational aspect of displayed paintings, which gives reasons to hope that the brilliant reflection of cultural heritage of our land will contribute to the process of spiritual revival of its citizens.
