The exhibition “Valerii Davydov Declaration”

On December 19, 2016 the personal exhibition of artworks "Valerii Davydov Declaration" was opened in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum.

Davydov Valerii Mykolaiovych was born on December 21, 1954 in Kirovohrad. In 1993 he graduated from I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He participated in many national and regional art exhibitions and he is a member of the National Ukrainian Artists Union since 2005.

Valerii Mykolaiovych Davydov served as director of the Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum (from 1998 to 2001). He was one of the first directors who made great efforts to open the museum for visitors after the museum creation in May 2001. It is symbolic that 15 years later, when the institution reopens its doors to all art fans after the repairing works with the exhibition of artworks by Valerii Davydov.

Valerii Mykolaiovych participated in regional, national and international art exhibitions icluding such ones as: All-Ukrainian art exhibition "Women of Ukraine - artists" (Kyiv, 2002), All-Ukrainian art exhibition "Picturesque Ukraine" (Donetsk, 2002), All-Ukrainian exhibition dedicated to the Day of Artists (Kyiv, 2003), All-Ukrainian Christmas art exhibition (Kyiv, 2003 ), All-Ukrainian exhibition "Picturesque Ukraine" (Lviv, 2003), All-Ukrainian exhibition "Picturesque Ukraine" (Yahotyn, 2004), All-Ukrainian autumn art exhibition (Kyiv, 2004), All-Ukrainian Biennale of graphic Arts (Kyiv, 2006), All-Ukrainian art exhibition "The sea of watercolor"(Odessa, 2016). On the initiative and direct participation of Valerii Mykolaiovych several exhibitions of graduates diploma artworks of the Art Faculty of Kirovograd Volodymyr Vynnychenko State Pedagogical University were held. The following facts in his creative biography became notable: helding of personal exhibitions in the city art salon (2005), the organization of and participation in the exhibition "Teacher and students" (Kropyvnytskyi, Regional Art Museum, 2006), participation in the exhibition of Kirovohrad artists in the National Reserve "Kyiv Sophia" held as a part of the "Treasures of Ukrainian museums in the holy land of Kyiv Sophia" (2009). In particular, in 2008 V. Davydov participated in the National project "Ukrainians in the world" (creation of famous Ukrainians portraits. The artist has written five portraits, including portraits of famous artists countrymen, prominent cultural figures of the twentieth century Petro Ossowskyi and Oleksandr Osmorkin).

Valerii Mykilaiovych took part in interesting art projects. In May 2006 in collaboration with a member of the Artists Union Artem Kindrytskyi he was an art director of performance based on Ivan Franko work "Lys Mykyta"(Fox Mykyta) in Kirovohrad M. Kropyvnytskyi Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre. In 2015 he created paintings at the time-Club "Berloha" with the students of Arts faculty of the Kirovohrad Volodymyr Vynnychenko State Pedagogical University.

Another area of the artist's work is iconography. Since 1993, he created a series of beautiful icon images, including icons "Yelisavethrad Mother of Jesus", "Saint Elizabeth", "Saint Mykolai", which are held at the Holy-Transfiguration Cathedral of our city.

Participation in different events, including the international ones is a separate page of master’s creative biography. While working as a director of the Regional Art Museum Valerii Mykolaiovych launched art-event, "Kirovohrad region in the artists’ eyes". In 2015 he took part in such event in Svitlovodsk, Kirovohrad region (the organizer - Gallery "Yelisavethrad") and the event, devoted to the memory of prominent artists Ivan Pohytonov (1850-1923) and Petro Ossovskyi (1925-2015) in Dobrovelychkivka, Novoukrainskyi and Malovyskivskyi regions.

Today V.M. Davydov is a senior lecturer at the Arts and Design Department of Kirovohrad State Pedagogical University and a teacher at Kirovohrad children's art school named after O. Osmorkin. He focuses on the education of talented youth. On the initiative and direct participation of Valerii Mykolaiovych there were several exhibitions of graduates diploma artworks of the Art Faculty of Kirovograd Volodymyr Vynnychenko State Pedagogical University held. In 2006 the exhibition "The teacher and students" opened. His students are members of national and international exhibitions. Some of them entered higher education institutions of artistic direction, including the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture of Ukraine. Some of them have already become members of the National Ukrainian Artists Union, developing the best traditions of national art.

Artworks by Valerii Mykolaiovych are stored in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum, Dobrovelychkivka regional museum Kashin museum (Russian Federation) and in many private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Europe and America.

V.M. Davydov works towards realistic painting. The genres range of the artist's work is very wide: landscape, still life, portrait, genre painting etc. Al. This exhibition, which has received eloquent title "Valerii Davydov Declaration" demonstrates the artist’s loyalty to the traditions of realistic art, which he has been developing throughout his career.

At the exhibition opening V. Davydov presented the artist’s and countryman’s Petro Ossovskyi portrait created specifically for the Regional Art Museum.
