May 27, 2016, on the eve of the Day of Frontier Guard of Ukraine, the Kirovograd regional art museum opened the exhibition "The zero line of the border" of the artist Beata Kurkul.
Ukrainian people began to celebrate the Day of Frontier Guard in 1992 and it was not only a manifestation of respect for people, who stand at the forefront of our country, but also additional and very important patriotic and educational factor. This festival has become particularly acute sound and relevance in a regular Russian-Ukrainian War and the revival of Ukrainian army.
The author of the exhibition Beata Alfredivna Kurkul is a unique person. A Pole for nationality, a Lithuanian for citizenship, a Ukrainian for heart attraction, a certified physician and historian, an artist by vocation, a volunteer at the command of the soul. The artist first came to our nation's capital during the Orange Revolution in 2004, and seven years ago, she finally became a mallet having moved to her husband Mykola Avdeev.
In November 2015, at the opening work "The BORDER" in the National Historical and Architectural Museum "Kyiv Fortress", Ms. Beata said, that she is proud of her friendship with border guards and her work, dedicated to these brave men, are designed for the general public, who should know as much about those who protect our country. The artist notices: "I want people who will see someone in the "the green cap" in the street or elsewhere to respect and admire him".
Today, the works of Mrs. Beata adorn the State Border Service of Ukraine in Kyiv, also you can view them on social networks. During 2015-2016 the calendars in a series of drawings were issued: "Star Warriors" - "Border guards - 2015", "Border guards - 2016/2017".
In May 2016 there was the first overseas exhibition of the artist "The Border" hosted with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in Warsaw, Poland, which was devoted to Ukrainian border guards serving in the Luhansk region.
There were presented thirty works by Beata Kurkul during 2014-2015 in the Kirovograd Regional Art Museum exhibition "The zero line of the border ". The Lithuanian artist works outside like a picture, but it's graphic works, which Beata Kurkul creates on the tablet (computer graphics, in fact - the original, as they are computer files that can be opened and printed in any size).
Border guards at the zero line or in cold trenches, at marine boats or in the bunkers, leaning over his wounded friend, or holding in his arms a child - each of these stories is taken from the real life of people who defend the borders of Ukraine.
The presented works at the exhibition are primarily a hymn to those, who was the first to take the blow of Russian occupational bands on the land and at the sea. Among them - "Border 1", "Border 2", "Border 3", "Frontier 4" (Olexiy Zaharchenko - Lugansk border detachment, Oleg Nimchuk - Lviv border detachment), "Protecting the border", "Here we stand" (the border guards of OBPK "The Rock", Mostysk border detachment), "Border guards" (Hladkov - Kharkiv border detachment, Roman Dumyak - Lugansk border detachment, now OKPP "Kyiv", Yaroslav Slyvynskyi - Mostysk border detachment), "Holding the Heaven" (Yuriy Kozlovskyi, Kramatorsk border detachment), "The Outpost" (the call sign "Ali", Donetsk border detachment), "The Maritime boundary" (Olexiy Kostiukov - Odessa border detachment), "Atoshnyk", "The border guard" (Roman Dumyak, OKPP Kyiv), "The Rock: Jarek" (Yaroslav Voytsytskyi of OBPK "The Rock", Mostysk border detachment), "The Wall", "Survived. Dawn".
The works are the requiem for those who have lost the most precious thing – the life, defending the sovereignty of independent Ukraine: "The Heaven border" (border guards do not die, they go to heaven to guard the border), "The Officer" (I. F. Momot, a major-general of DPSU posthumously. He died in July 11, 2014 in Lugansk region), "Oleg" (Oleg Sorochenko, Lugansk squad, who died in August 25, 2014 in Red Talovka during a battle with pro-Russian separatists), "After the battle" (August 14, 2014 a small group of guards near the crossing point "Uspenka". In the battle the Chief Warrant Roman Diumin was killed), "Life goes on" (work to the song of V. Kuprienko "Olezhenka" - in honor of the deceased in 2014 the border guard Oleg Sorochenko on the Red Talovka).
The part of the Ukrainian army has a medical service which has always been close side by side with the soldiers: "Doctors", "The Last Ambulance" (DPSU hospital, Kyiv).
Joy and plaintive works with recorded minutes of the parental happiness and pride: "Daddy’s daughter" (Evgen Gladkov from Kharkiv border detachment with his daughter Dasha), "The guard to guard" (the border guard, call sign "Rubin", from OKPP "Kyiv" with a daughter, "Father. Mother").
The optimism is reflected in the works: "Everything will be fine," "Morning", "Rainbow" (Always believe in yourself. Then, wherever you were, you just have nothing to fear. Hayao Miyazaki).
The First Deputy Chairman of Kirovograd regional state administration Sergiy Kovalenko and the assistant of the head of Kirovograd regional council Ivan Vladov acted during the exhibition opening. They handed the awards of Kirovograd region "for courage and bravery" to all present border guards – Andriy Levchuk, Yuriy Kovalenko, Olexandr Bandurko, Astra Blohina.
