May 18, 2016 in the department of Kirovograd Regional Art Museum – in Art Gallery of Petro Ossowskyi "The World and The Fatherland" there was the exhibition "My Motherland is Ukraine" to the 91th anniversary of the birth of artist and countryman Petro Ossowskyi (1925-2015).

Petro Pavlovych Ossowskyi - a national artist of USSR, a laureate of USSR State Prize, International Prize by M. Sholokhov, a member of the Russian Academy of Arts was born on May 18, 1925 Mala Vyska village in Kirovograd region. In 1950 he graduated from the State Art Institute named after V. I.  Surikov. Since 1956 he is a member of the Union of Artists.

The works of Petro Ossowskyi are in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Kyiv National Museum of Russian Art, Donetsk Regional Art Museum, Odessa Regional Art Museum, Kharkiv Art Museum, Kirovograd Regional Art Museum, Kirovograd Regional Museum, the National Art Museum of Belarus, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and other museums, galleries and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, as well as numerous foreign collections.

P. P. Ossowskyi is known as the founder of "severe style" in art. Petro Pavlovych is marked by international, state, church, community and other awards.

May 18, 2007 there was the opening of the department in the Kirovograd Regional Art Museum – in Art Gallery of Petro Ossowskyi "The world and the country". Also there were opened picture galleries of Petro Ossowskyi in the Russian Federation "Pskov motives" (2007, Pskov, Pskov museum-reserve), "Pushkin and the land of Pskov" (2007 Pushkinohorie, Pushkin Reserve), "From the shores of Lake Baikal to the waters of the Caribbean" (2011, Toliatti, Volga Art Gallery), "Izborsk Chamber" (2012, Izborsk, Pskov region of the Russian Federation), "Russian House" (2013, Egorievsk, Egorievsk historical art museum).

The artist lived and worked in Moscow. However, his relationship with the homeland has never been interrupted.

Unfortunately in August last year, Petro Pavlovych died. The picture gallery "The World and Fatherland" 18 May 2016 for the first time encounters its 91th birthday of Petro Palvolych and the International Museum Day, when the artist is not among us. The open exhibition is devoted to this date and his blessed memory.

The exhibition, which was presented to the 9th anniversary of the birth of the artist and his blessed memory, has the canvases of the author, devoted to Malovyskivshchyna – the land, where Petro Ossowskyi was born. There is also a work with the eloquent title which became the name of the exposition. This is a picture of "My Motherland is Ukraine". The image of a native land inspired Petro Ossovskyi to the creation of many works. Only the regional art museum had several of them. These are works "The fields of Mala Vyska" and "The Motherland". There is one more variant of the picture "The fields of Mala Vyska" in the permanent exhibition gallery.

Thus, the exhibition works have a natural sequel on the canvas, which were presented in static display gallery. These are the works, which tell about the three motherlands of the artist - (Ukraine, Russia, Poland), in whose veins the Ukrainian and Polish blood flowed, who was born in Ukraine and lived all his life in Russia.

Of course, a special place among these works takes a triptych "Steppe Hellas", which was created specifically for the gallery. It should be noted that in 2013 a variation of this triptych, made in 2008, was referred to the collection of the National Art Museum of Ukraine. Also, this work has been presented at many exhibitions of Petro Pavlovych, which were held in 2008-2012.

A separate page of the open exhibition was the graphic works of an artist. Here you can see the pictures with the portrait of countrymen which were made in Mala Vyska.

A separate exposition complex is created from the works which were written in the summer of 2015 during the plein in Mala Vyska that was dedicated to the memory of Petro Ossowskyi. These are the works of Valeriy Davydov, Volodymyr Volohow, Mariya Achkasova, Nataliya Fedorova  and Anatoliy Kimnatnyi which reflect a modern image of the land, which gave the world Petro Pavlovych Ossowskyi - our famous countryman, one of the greatest artists of the second half of the XX - XXI century.
