On October 13, 2016 on the eve of the Day of Defender Ukraine and the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks the regional art museum opened the exhibition "Knights of the spirit.
Since 1999 on October 14 the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks is celebrated, and since 2014 the President of Ukraine defined it as the Day of the Defender of Ukraine. The idea of the exhibition is a figurative embodiment of Ukrainian military spirit, passed through the paintings of artists.
The presented exhibition is dedicated to all soldiers - defenders of our land of all times and generations.
Historical conditions of life of the Ukrainian people have created unique phenomenon of Cossacks, the way of life of a free man who defended his God-given liberties and rights. It embodied in a physical and spiritual health of the nation, intellectual strength, optimism and energy. It was a united, cohesive, ideologically and spiritually cemented strictly disciplined national force.
The current nationwide surge of interest in the history of the Cossacks and particular attention to its problems is easily explained. The national elite is being formed, it bases its activities on the experience of the Cossacks state. Therefore, in the present conditions Cossacks will contribute to intensification of effort of state building, elevation of spirituality of each individual in particular, and all the people, society as a whole.
The exhibition presents works by V.I. Khvorost (1936-2014) - "Ivan Sirko - ataman" (1990), "Cossack Mamai" (1990), "Farewell to Cossacks" (2005), L.F. Davydenko (1954) - "From the Fair" (2007), "Homesickness" (2007), V. Tramzina "Chigirin Fortress Siege" and B.O. Domashyna (1927-2000) "Portrait of Ivan Honta". These works of graphic art and painting vividly illustrate the original life of the Ukrainian Cossacks, who were defenders of Ukraine at the call of the heart. In the east of our country it is now when the genetic code of Ukrainians is clearly reflected. Thousands of patriots are defending Ukraine from the enemy as well as a few centuries ago Cossacks it.
