The exhibition "Country of artists" dedicated to the Day of cultural sphere workers and folk art masters

On November 10, 2016 Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum opened the regional exhibition "Country of artists" of decorative artworks dedicated to the national Day of cultural sphere workers and folk art masters. This exhibition was launched as the annual report of folk art masters of the region.

 

The Ukrainian Folk Art Masters Union was established in 1990 to preserve the crafts heritage and support the further development of folk arts. From 1990 to 2004 it was headed by People's Artist of Ukraine Priadko Volodymyr Mykhailovych. Since 2004, the chairman of the Ukrainian Folk Art Masters Union became the Honored Artist of Ukraine, master of artistic woodworking, folk art scholar, lexicographer, the head of the State art-expert council of national art crafts Shevchenko Yevhen Ihorovych.

 

The Union cares about the development of all types and genres of folk art of Ukraine. Among the activities the organization provides there is the work of identifying the masters of traditional crafts and bringing them to cooperation, exhibitions and folk art festivals organization, memory perpetuation of outstanding folk artists, art critics, promotion of professional and moral formation of creative young people. Today there are 20 regional branches of the Ukrainian Folk Art Masters Union.

 

On June 18, 2010 in the Regional Art Museum as a part of measures on creation of the community of the Ukrainian Folk Art Masters Union in Kirovohrad region there was the first regional exhibition of arts and crafts held. In May 2013 there was the second report exhibition held, and in August 2015 - the third one.

 

The coordinator of Kirovohrad community of the  Ukrainian Folk Art Masters Union and the Union member is Prenko Oleksandra Ivanivna – the Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine,  the Excellent Educator of Ukraine, the participant of many exhibitions of arts and crafts not only in Kirovohrad region and other regions of Ukraine, but also abroad.

 

The regional community consists of 93 artists of different types and genres of contemporary folk art from all over the region. In total, the region has 1,654 masters of decorative and fine arts, among them there are 1 538 masters and 116 painters.

 

Since 2010, our craftsmen regularly take part in Ukrainian competition "The best product of the year" (Kyiv), numerous exhibitions, competitions, festivals, fairs and other cultural events of state, regional and local level. Their works are presented in the catalog "Folk Art "The best product of the year". By the way, this year, in the category "Carpeting" the winner was Valentyna Dobrovolska!

 

The members of the Ukrainian Folk Art Masters Union are: Oleksandra Prenko, Olha Kolomiiets, Valentyna Dobrovolska, Viktoriia Pukhinda, Tetiana Storozhenko, Larysa Harbuzenko, Larysa Kulinich, Yuliia Malezhyk (Kropyvnytskyi), Hryhorii Pylypyshyn (Haivoron), Serhii and Olha Yakovenko (Dolynska) Tetiana Dobrovolska (Novhorodka).

 

The members of the UFAMU were also bright and original artists: Zhanna Maihrovska (1946-2014) - gold embroidery master, inscribed in the book "The best women of Ukraine" (2000), awarded with the Order of Kniahynia Olha III degree and with the Order of St. Volodymyr: Andrii Lipatov (1960-2010) - a unique original painter. Andrii Yuriiovych had no art education and he attributed himself to the so-called "naive artists".

 

This year's exhibition is presented by 63 folk artists from 11 districts and towns of the region, who are custodians and successors to the best traditions of Ukrainian folk. This list shows the great potential of Kirovohrad region artists whose works are made in various kinds of arts and crafts:

We are proud of our artists work and we believe that their talent and work will promote spiritual growth of the people, will be a source of cultural traditions enrichment of Kirovohrad region.

 

During the opening of the exhibition the speech was given by first deputy head of Kirovohrad regional state administration Serhii Kovalenko, who greeted all the participants of with national Day of cultural sphere workers and folk art masters and handed diplomas of gratitude to the best artists of arts and crafts.

 

The director of Culture, Tourism and Heritage department of State Administration Valentyna Zhyvotovska greeted the audience and wished new creative achievements, peace and harmony. The coordinator of Kirovohrad community of the Ukrainian National Folk Art Union, the member of the Ukrainian National Folk Art Union, Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine Oleksandra Prenko presented the exhibition and congratulated everybody with the professional holiday. She told about the participation of Kirovograd artists in the nationwide contest "The best product of the year" in Kyiv, where in the category "Carpeting" the winner was Valentyna Dobrovolska. To the numerous congratulations joined Larysa Harbuzenko – the Member of Ukrainian National Folk Art Union, a senior lecturer in fine arts and design arts faculty of the Kirovohrad State Pedagogical University, Olha Kolomiiets – the Member of Ukrainian National Folk Art Union and member of the Ukrainian National Union of Painters.

 

During the celebrations Serhii Kovalenko, Valentyna Zhyvotovska and staff of Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum congratulated the chief custodian of the museum Valentyna Nozhenko with getting a well-deserved reward - Regional Award in the field of culture "Spiritual Treasures of Kirovohrad region" in the nomination "For significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage."
