              Volodymyr Mohyliuk

On 4 August 2016, the jubilee exhibition "Master of lyrical motive” of Feliks Mykhailovych Polonskyi, our artist-countryman, a member of Kirovohrad regional organization of the National Union of Artist of Ukraine, opened in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum.

In the hot days of August fans of realism fine art will enjoy the exhibition of Kirovohrad artist Feliks Polonskyi. In January the artist celebrated his 75th anniversary. But the anniversary year continues, and we have an excellent opportunity to admire the artworks by Feliks Mykhailovych Polonskyi, a subtle lyric poet and philosopher fallen in love with nature.

An art critic Andrii Nadiezhdin said that "... the master (Polonskyi) has developed a personal artistic style. The conditional character of the compositional space, playing with surfaces, color saturation, and the depth of paint, applied with vertical or horizontal strokes, form a special style. His works are easily recognizable in exhibitions for their decorative, graphical manner, restrained colors, and the peculiarity of a formal decision”. Indeed, one can agree with these words...

On the anniversary exhibition held in walls of Regional Art Museum presents 50 paintings that characterize the creative palette of the master of lyrical motif. Feliks with his usual diligence operates in the genre of landscape, as well as in still life and easel paintings. The theme of nature in the presented works reveals a lyrical and romantic mood of the author and is marked by a harmonious play of colour that radiates warmth and calmness: “Magic of a Summer Night" (2014), "Autumn mood" (2014), "Quiet Nook" (2012) "Winter Morning" (2000), etc. The artist draws attention primarily to himself as a landscape painter who can convey the beauty of the world around, the state of nature in different seasons by means of paints. Such still lifes as "Lilac" (2016), "Sunflowers" (2001) "Poppies" (2004), "Rowan" (2010) and others call sincere emotions when you look at them. The exhibition also represents portraits of friends and relatives the hero of the day: "Hope" (1992), "Autumn Leaves" (2003). The artist turns to the great Ukrainians artistically interpreting their difficult path in his creative work: “Mykola Hohol" (2009), "Pre-dawn Lights" (2008).

Feliks Polonskyi does not stay aside from charity. He gladly responds to proposals to provide lots for participation in Easter charity auctions that take place within the walls of the art museum. Thus, at the auction this year, he gave an artwork "Sunny Day" (2014).

During the opening of the exhibition Feliks Polonskyi gave such oil paintings as "Milky Way" (1991), “Crying Ashes" (1991) and “There Came a Heavy Red Cloud" (2008) to the stock of Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum.
