Vladimir Oleksandrovych Fedorov (1920-1986)
February 5, 2015 in Kirovograd Regional Art Museum opens exhibition "With love for the Motherland" dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the brilliant Kirovograd artist Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Fedorov, whose work is a whole era in art not only of Kirovohrad region, but also of all country.
There is something symbolic in the fact that it is our city, which gave a start in life a whole galaxy of talented artists who gave the world one more unique painters - Vladimir Fedorov, who was born in Kirovograd February 7, 1920. The creative nature of the future genius manifested itself in childhood, which was manifested in his passion for drawing, modeling and playing the piano.
They say - an environment forms a person. It is hard to disagree with this statement, which is fully justified and the example of Fedorov. It may be considered a huge temper that fate brought him and his family to our famous countryman, musician Heinrich Neuhaus, where Volodya’s grandmother worked as a housekeeper. It were Neuhaus, under the care which was actually a boy, who made a significant positive contribution to the formation of world Fedorov, taught him to play the piano and encouraged drawing. Natural talent of Volodya even created a problem for him - what to choose? Music or painting? Eventually he chooses painting. This choice brought him to the Odessa State Art School named of Grekov.
After graduation Fedorov was sent to military service. And then was the war! Baptism of fire was in the Moscow battles. He lost his father, that is why the most native person for him was his mother. "Are you still alive?" - He wrote to her from the front, January 23, 1944 year - "…because two and a half years passed since that terrible time when the Germans occupied our town,.. How far from their lands throws us luck, you get to know everything later, and now I wish to know only one thing: whether you live, whether our house still is .. ".
Since March 1943, Vladimir was studying in a military school. Then was fighting in units of the Third Baltic Front, continuing his battle way the ways of Baltic countries and Germany. After the defeat of Nazi Germany he was fighting in the Far East, making his contribution to the defeat of Japan. Only in May 1947 Fedorov finally demobilized from the army, having assets of the II degree Order of the Patriotic War, and many medals.
After the war, he had been working in Kirovohrad regional museum, the Regional House of Folk Art, as a teacher of the courses preparing leaders amateur.
People who have gone through the crucible of war are special. They are endowed with a keen sense of justice, appreciate the friendship, do not know how to lie and to compromise with his own conscience. The truth of life, such as it is, is for many of them the main theme of creative expression.
Vladimir Fedorov wasn’t an exeption, whose realistic painting is an invaluable heritage of modern Ukraine. Being a man of his time and his generation, he never resorted to experiment with styles for life staying faithful to a realistic reflection of the era we now call - socialist. Recorded landscapes, events, figures its actuality, leaders of the country. For skeptics immediately note - works Volodymyr Oleksandrovych were never formulaic, they are all imbued with a deep psychological truth and life.
They say - "The great is seen from the distance." Maybe the longing for homeland, which felt Fedorov during the war inspired him in the future to create a series of wonderful landscapes, devoted mother Kirovograd. This artist was able to find poetry in seemingly simplest motifs - a hut on the edge of Kirovohrad hill, a group of tourists on the shore Ingul. Having experienced the horrors of war, he, like a child, was happy to live each day of peace, appreciating it and enjoying it. Perhaps it is the reason that Fedorov’s creativity is so cheerful, life-affirming, sunny, optimistic.
Diligences, creative enthusiasm, thematic range of the artist are striking. He created a portrait gallery (experts believe the most successful were the portraits of painter’s relatives and friends), a series of seascapes (Black Sea coast, the city Gursuf), he paid tribute to the thematic picture (historical thematic occupied an important place in his works), declared his to the theater, and left in addition to pictures with relevant thematic direction several albums of drawings depicting theater actors (many of whom were his friends), because he was a frequent visitor behind the scenes, at rehearsals, performances. Glorifying the labor heroism of ordinary workers of towns and villages, he has written many papers on industrial theme (leaving constantly at creative vocations).
It is clear that as a former soldier and patriot of his country, Fedorov could not ignore the topic of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. By and large, Vladimir had experienced war twice. The first time - as a soldier on the battlefield, the second - as an artist, passing through works his personal memories and feelings caused by the war. It is difficult to overestimate the importance of these works as they are not only artistic and historical value, but also have the great moral and educational load fostering a sense of patriotism and respect for those who do not spare their lives, protects the homeland from the enemy.
The artist was a fully developed personal, he had encyclopedic knowledge, he was interested in literature, history, global art, freely oriented in artistic currents, versed in music. In his artistic heritage there are topics related to the figures of Taras Shevchenko, the Decembrists and others.
And in the background of all of this an amazing modesty of Vladimir Olexandrovich, so typical for former soldiers, accustomed quietly without much advertising do the trick. Active member of many regional, national, union and foreign art exhibitions he only in 1978, (and only because of perseverance of his wife) became a member of the Union of Artists of the Soviet Union.
In 1986 the 66-year life of the artist passed away. In late 2010, his faithful friend Nina Georgievna died. This is a woman who, was for the artist his wife, friend and muse, and guardian angels, after her husband died she donated to the Art Museum, about a thousand of his works, thus making a priceless gift to all fans of fine art in general, and Fedorov particular artist's work. A museum, in turn, holds fruitful work to promote the work of the great master, and did everything in his tribute to make a memorial plaque at home, in which the artist lived. Remains relevant the question of opening the picture gallery of Vladimir Fedorov where works by the artist could have been presented to various historical events and holidays, the artist’s thematic range gives the opportunity.
Much of the exhibition "From loving the motherland" is consist of paintings that represent Vladimir Fedorov not only as a wonderful landscape painter, but also a patriot of his land - "On the Dnieper," "Pear at the bank" (1957), "Father's house" (1959) "Winter" (1961), "On the River Ross" (1962), "White lilac Bush" (1963), "Outskirts of Kirovohrad", "Autumn in Cheryomushki. Kirovograd City "(1964), "Outskirts of Kirovohrad "(1967)," Etude. On the outskirts of the city "," Boulders on the River Ingul "," Gold Autumn in Dendropark "(1968)," Kurgan. Outskirts of Kirovohrad "(1969)," Sunflowers "(1970)," Bus Stop "Dendropark" (1972), "Dendropark. Kirovograd City "(1972)," New Buildings. Kirovograd "(1972) and others.
The status of one of the best portrait painters of Ukraine confirms such artist as "Ann’s Portrait" (1958), "Portrait of Valechka", "Self-Portrait" (1962), "Portrait of the artist's mother" (1962), "The wife of the artist" (1962), "Portrait the artist's wife "(1968)," Portrait of a student "(1969)," Portrait of My Mother "(1973)," Portrait of students "(1974)," Lev Tolstoy with Maria Zankovetska "," Portrait of opera singer Petrov, " Portrait of the Artist ".
A kind of mirror of that epoch and the environment of the artist are Fedorov’s work "Motorcycles at the construction site" (1962), "The interior of rooms" (1982), "Dahlia. In the artist's studio "(1984)," In the artist's studio "(1985).
Visitor of the exhibition will also receive a unique opportunity to see the last picture of Vladimir Oleksandrovych - "Bouquet on Maccabeus" (1986), written shortly before his death.
