On 30 April 2015 an exhibition of works of the Bulgarian artist Ivan Stoianov "Dedicated to Ukraine...” opened in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum.
Ivan Stoianov, a famous Bulgarian artist, was born in 1961 in Nova Zagora, the city in the Republic of Bulgaria. He graduated from the Department of Arts of Shumen University "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski”. Since 1986 he is an active participant of national and international art exhibitions. He held 33 solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad.
The artist’s artworks are in public and private collections in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Latvia, Belarus, Russia, China, Japan, Portugal, France and Spain.
In recent years the residents of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Odesa, Lviv, Lutsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Dniprodzerzhynsk and other cities of our country had a chance to meet the works of Ivan Stoianov. Kirovohrad residents are familiar with it as well.
Thus in April 2013 an exhibition of works of the Bulgarian artist Ivan Stoianov opened in "Petro Ossovskyi Picture Gallery “World & Homeland” of Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum. The exhibition presents graphic works of the artist, where he reinterpreted traditional Ukrainian ornaments in red and black.
At the exhibition there were presented more than 20 graphic images created in Stoianov’s artistic technique that combines collage and images of symbolic signs, drawn with ink and tempera. The basis for the graphic drawings were signs-symbols used in the technique of embroidery, pottery and other crafts of the Bulgarian people.
The exhibition has been made possible due to the support of Kirovohrad regional public organization Union of Bulgarians NASHYTE KHORA and pushed us to a closer acquaintance with artist Ivan Stoianov.
Several years of friendship unite the Bulgarian artist and the Museum of Hetman (Kyiv). In April this year, the Museum of Hetman together with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Ukraine held an exhibition of works by the artist "Summer in Ukraine”. It presented 30 brilliant works in tempera painting technique and collage, similar in style to those that are displayed in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum.
The exhibition that opened in the regional art museum presents paintings by Ivan Stoianov. They were inspired by Ukrainian folk art. The paintings presented are small and impress with the brightness of colours.
The same as at the exhibition of 2013 pictures have no names, which gives visitors the opportunity to interpret the art themselves. With the imagination of viewers there come to life images of plants, animals and signs at these paintings.
Artworks of the master of theatrical costumes Zemfira Shtyriova, a member of Kirovohrad regional public organization Union of Bulgarians NASHYTE KHORA, became a pleasant surprise for guests of the exhibition, as they were represented at the opening ceremony along with pictorial works of the artist. These works complemented the exhibition and brought a touch of unique national colouring, combining the traditions of Bulgarian folk art, its ornaments with their modern reinterpretation in paintings by Ivan Stoianov.
The artist made a significant gift to the museum's collection and provided an opportunity for the museum to choose at its discretion 15 artworks out of 30 presented at the exhibition to replenish the stock collection of the museum.
