"Big little people" devoted to the International Day of Children's Protection

An exhibition "Big little people" devoted to the International Day of Children's Protection was openedOn May 28, 2014 in Kirovograd regional art Museum.
International Day of Children's Protection was established and approved by the Council of the International democratic women's Federation in 1949. This holiday aims to draw attention of the world community to the problems of children’s health, fighting against the child labour, children's rights for education, leisure and protection from physical and psychological violence.
In Ukraine from September 27, 1991 the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child entered into force according to which the countries that ratified the Convention, take all possible measures to ensure the protection of the rights of children, in particular life, freedom of opinion and religion, education and recreation etc. This holiday is celebrated in Ukraine since 1998.
The exhibition opened in cooperation of Kirovograd regional art Museum and U. Meytus Kirovograd music school №2.
The exhibition presents the photographs of a famous photographer, member of the National Union of photographers of Ukraine and the National Union of journalists of Ukraine Igor Demchuk. This photographs are made in different years and revel the topic of childhood.
Demchuk Igor has been working in photojournalism for 28 years. His creativity and professional excellence is known not only in the region but also in Ukraine, marked by numerous diplomas and awards. I. Demchuk is the winner of the regional journalism award in the category "Photojournalism" (2005). His photos graced the book "the Kirovograd region. History.Tradition. Modernity", which received the third place on the all-Ukrainian competition "the Best book of Ukraine" in 2010. Igor is a permanent participant of art exhibitions.
Since 1995 Igor Demchuk is a correspondent of the regional newspaper "NarodnoeSlovo", his camera lens catch every big or small event of economic, political, cultural and artistic life in the region. An important part in his creativity is the children. It is clearly seen in the works, which became the basis for the creation of the exhibition "Big little people".
The exhibition shows paintings from the collections of the regional art Museum, devoted to the theme of childhood. This work A. Sliota (born in 1950) "Red bike", V.S., Sagoian (1925-1986) "Home", T.A. Khitrovo (1913-1991) "Alenka", C. Prokhorov (born in 1924) "Etudes", B. Domashina (1927-2000) "Portrait of a daughter", V.Fedorov (1920-1986) "Portrait of Anna", M.Bondarenko (1914-1999) "Childhood", L. Kirianova (born 1952), "Grandma", V.Volokhov (born 1939) "Childhood M. Tsvetaeva (Memory M. Vrubel)". In the center of the exhibition there is the icon of the Mother of God "assuage my sorrows" (1895).
For the visitors there was a musical concert performed by children from U. Meytus Kirovograd music school №2.
