An exposition "Baroque extravaganza of Yuri Lutskevich", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of the artist was opened in September 9, 2014 in Kirovograd Regional Art Museum. It was devoted to the 80 anniversary of the birth of the artist-countryman, a recognized leader of the Ukrainian neo-Baroque.
Yuri Lutskevich was born in September 9, 1934 in Kirovohrad. During his studying in the circle of fine arts in Kirovograd Palace of pioneers Lutskevich studied at the honoured artist of Ukraine Boris Mikhailovich Vintenko (1927-2002). In 1951 he entered the T.G. Shevchenko Kiev art high school, from which he graduated in 1953 with a gold medal and entered the Kiev State art Institute. He ended his education in 1959 in the workshop of V. Puzyrkov (1918-1999).
In the years of 1959-1962 Lutskevich taught drawing and painting at the Kiev school of applied art and drawing at KCU. From 1962 to 1965 he studied at the creative workshops of the Academy of arts of the USSR in Kiev under the guidance S. Grigoriev. In 1966 he became a member of the Union of artists of the USSR.
The master's works are kept in museums, galleries and private collections of Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Croatia, Great Britain, France, Denmark, Portugal, USA etc.
Yuri Lutskevich belongs to the generation of artists who came to the art in 60-ies. This period is a time of departure of the artist from the academic standards in painting. The artist has witnessed the birth of a new wave of neo-Baroque searches in contemporary Ukrainian art and showed their inner dialogue with the spiritual life of the twentieth century.
Everything is written in the sensations in his works. All his works have the spirit of fantasy, the attraction to the extraordinary, mysterious, and symbolic. Joy, humanity, optimism, beauty - these are the main principles, which are based on the works of famous Ukrainian painter. Tragic finds no place in the artist.
Yuri Lutskevichis a very versatile the artist who equally successfully worked in different genres: still life, landscape, portrait, thematic painting, Nude.
Yuri Lutskevich died in June 22, 2001.
The first solo exhibition of works by Yuri Lutskevich was opened in the Kirovohrad Regional art Museum with the assistance of the artist's wife HalinaHorodnicheva in 2003. Along with the exposition of our distinguished countryman an exhibition of paintings of Halina was presented. In 2011 in the halls of the Museum there were also held exhibitions of works by Yuri Lutskevich and his wife Horodnicheva.
It was scheduled the opening of the memorial to Yuri Pavlovich on the building of the municipal institution "Educational Association No. 6 "Specialized secondary school I-III stages, the center of aesthetic education "Inspiration" Kirovohradcity Council region" devoted to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the birth of the artist in September 11, 2014. In this school he had been studying from 1942 to 1949.
The author of a memorial plaque of Yuri Lutskevich is a famous sculptor, the author of many sculptures that adorn the streets of our cities and other settlements not only in our region. He is a member of the National Union of artists of Ukraine and his name is Viktor Frenchko.
The exhibition of regional art Museum presents paintings and graphic works of Yuri and Horodnicheva, as well as archival materials from the stock collection of the Museum. It’s worth noting that the picture by Halina “Interior" which is presented in the exhibition depicts mirror, which belonged to Yuri Pavlovich and which was restored by himself.
During the opening of the exhibition HalinaHorodnicheva donated the work of Yuri Lutskevich "self-Portrait" (2000) to the funds of the regional art Museum.
