There was the opening of a personal exhibition of Yuri Botnar, "Between past and future" during the autumn exhibition season 2014 in Kirovograd Regional Art Museum.

Kirovohrad citizens had the opportunity to know the creativity of Yuri Botnar at the personal exhibition of the artist "Plein air painting. Still life", was held in the museum in the spring of 2009. At that time the artist was in his usual role as a master of lyrical landscape and still life.

At the exhibition which was opened on 24 September Y. Botnar presented a part of his creative heritage of the past years, in which tradition and innovation complement and interact with each other. In the exposition amazing there is a combination of realistic watercolor landscapes and still life with surreal compositions and fantasies in the technique of computer graphics.

Yuri Botnar belongs to those supporters of plein air painting, which clearly realize that working with nature is very difficult, because of its infinite perfection simply does not lend itself to reproduction. However, the nature and landscape contain universal experience and the language that the artist cannot avoid his attention, constantly returning to his favorite genre, this time it is the technique of watercolors.

According to many philosophers and researchers of art, the landscape does not exist the way we see it. In reality it's just a set of randomly placed trees, lakes and mountains that we ourselves merge into the landscape. The reality, therefore, is subjected the transformation" in our minds. The reflection that is born as a result of this is very similar in nature to the process of creating a computer image.

On this basis, Yuri’s curiosity to 2D computer graphics is not occasional, by means of which the artist explores the boundaries between real and unreal. Raster images are accepted in the form of visual notes with reflections of the artist about the greatness and downs, gains and losses, fleeting and eternal.
