„Poet-genius in artworks” on the occasion of 215 anniversary from birthday of Oleksandr Serhiiovych Pushkin (1799-1837)

On 6 July 2014 in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum department of – Petro Ossovskyi picture gallery “World and Motherland” was opened expostition, dedicated to 215th anniversary from the birthday of poet, genius of russian literature Oleksandr Serhiiovych Pushkin (1799-1837).

 

The future poet was born on 6 July 1799 in Moscow, in small noble family. The uncle of poet, Vasyl Lvovych Pushkin, who knew a few languages and was acquainted with many poets, affected much on development of small Oleksandr. He was brought up by French-tutors, who taught future poet in early years to read; and already in childhood the future russsian poet began to write poems on French.

In 1811 Pushkin entered the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, where he studied for six years. Here young poet went through the events of  Patriotic War in 1812, at first time he discovered his poetic gift and was higly appreciated by contemporaries. Recollections of the years, which he spent in Lyceum, about lyceum faternity, will be forever in the poet's soul. At this period he wrote many poetic compositions. He was inspired by French poets of  XVII-XVIII centuries, with works of whom he was familiar from childhood, reading the books from father's library. The O.S.Pushkin teacher were K.Batiushkov – recognized master of ”Light poetry” and V.Zhukovskyi – head of compatriot romanticism.

Oseksandr finished Lyceum in 1817  in the rank of a collegiate secretary and was appointed to  the Collegium of foreign affairs. He became constant visitors of a theatre, took part in the meetings of «Arzamas » literature club, in 1819 he joined «Zelena Lampa» literature-theatre community and he worked upon creation of poem «Ruslan and Ludmila».

Then in O.S.Pushkin life were Caucasia, Crimea, Kishinev, Odessa, where he met with future Decembrist. In this period the romanticism of poet has bloomed, and created works strenghthened his glory as firtst russian poet,it was owing to bright natures and unbelievable mastery of his talent. With his pen he wrote poems “Dagger”, “Caucasian Captive”, “Damon”, the work which he started upon poem “Eugene Onegin”.

On July 1824, after conflict with front office, besides with count M.Vorontsov, with whom wife Oleksandr Pushkin flirted, poet was sent to the Mykhailiv estate to be under the watch of parents. Here he created series of masterpieces -  “I remember wonderful moment”, “Prophet”, “Boris Hodunov”, appeared desire and interest to the history of Russia, to the personality of czar-reformator Peter I, and he wrote composition “Poltava” and started to write “Negro of Peter the Great”.

Having married with Natalia Honcharova in 1830, the poet went to estate of his father in Boldino, this season was destined to become famous Boldin autumn, it was the peak of Pushkin creation, when with his pen was created entire library of peoms. There were “Belkin's narratives”, “Small tragedies”, last chapters of “Eugene Onegin”, “Fairy-tale about priest and his worker Balda ”, a few drafts of critical articles and approximately 30 poems. The second Boldin autumn was in 1833 also was “fruitful” - “The Brazen Horseman”, “The fairytale about fisherman and fish”, “Autumn” and started narrative “The Queen of Spades”.

On November 1833 O.S.Pushkin returned to Petersburg, feeling the necessity radically change his life. At the late 1834-early 1835 were published several Pushkin conclusive editions: full text of “Eugene Onegin”, collections of verses, narratives, poems – all these books were quickly sold out.

On November 1836 poet developed conflict with lieutenant Heeckeren (d'Anth?s). Quarrel, which offended Oleksandr Pushkin and his wife dignity, brought to duel, and on 27 Janruary 1837 the poet was wounded, bullet broke the neck of the thigh and  penetrated into stomach. Wound appeared fatal, in few days the poet died. The death of great poet became national tragedy, because contribution of Pushkin-genius to russian literarture was invaluable.

The way of russian poet repeatedly went through our oblast and our city.

In our native Kirovohrad there are several historical places, connected with name of Pushkin. There is Pushkin street, where in due time poet stopped at horse postal station.

In 1899 , at that time it was Elesavethrad, on occasion of 100th anniversary of poet, was built “Pushkin school”, at the moment it was O.S.Pushkin comprehensive school №7. In 1949 to the 150th anniversary of Oleksandr Pushkin, Kirovohrad Pedagogical Institute was assigned name of the poet (up to 1994), at the moment it is Vynnychenko Kirovohrad State Pedagogical University.

At the territory of  modern Kirovohrad the poet was several times. In 1824 he was in the village Sasivka of Kompaniievka region at the estate of Elesavethrad leader of nobility

L. Dobrovolskyi, he called upon poet and translater M.I. Hniedycha at the state in Shapkove, Novomyrhorod region. In the village Bovtyshka he stayed with family estate of general

M.M. Raievskyi, with family of whom he long time was kept on intimate terms with. Being in Ukraine, O.S.Pushkin got familiar with life of local citizens, picturesque nature, was interested in folklore. All his sketches, recollections and meetings he represent in his works.

At the exspotion were presented the picture dedicated to great poet and his creation works. They are water colors of Ukraine nation by artist Heorhii Melikhov “Illustrations to the fairytale of O.S.Pushkin “The fairytale about fisherman and fish” (1954), Ukraine linoleum engraving by honored worker Vasyl Khvorost “M.Hohol and O.Pushkin” (2008), graphical work by

artist-compatriot Leonid Kornieev “Bust of O.S. Pushkin ”, painting work by USSR nation artist Petro Ossovsky “Moscow I thought about you...”  (1982) presents poets in creative thinking, and picture by our compatriot Petro Kodiev “Puskin in Ukraine”  (1947) tells us about poets stay in our country.

 

During the opening of exposition was hold thematic programme “Travel to fairytale country” for pupils of the preschool holiday camp of O.S.Pushkin Primary and secondary general school №7.

Children read verses, told  about creations of poet, about historical places of our town and oblast, connected with the name of great genius. Pupils with big interest took part in quiz “Oleksandr Pushkin fairytales” and watched cartoon “Fairytale about fisherman and fish”. By the way the cartoon which was produced in 1954 also celebrate it's peculiar anniversary.

For pupils was hold general sightseeing tour in halls of Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum and were given memorable souvenirs.
