Exposition of Nadiia Movchan works to Savior of the Honey Feast Day

Exposition of Nadiia Movchanworks to Savior of the Honey Feast Day was hold on 14 August 2014 in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum.

 

The main festive events of August are Seviors. Both by the church calendar, and by nation calendar the 14 August is the holiday of  First Savior, Wet Savior, Water Savior -  Savior of the Honey Feast Day.

In heathen religion Sevior – is divinity, which embodied the spirit of the harvest, and maybe, he lead entire pantheon of  spirits of fields, forests, meadows etc. By the traditons of ancestors, at this day it is necessary to clean and arrange wells, because water at  Savior of the Honey Feast Day was considered to be healing, also at the day it is necessary to eat much honey, poppy. The spiritual status of poppy was very high. It was strew on cows and homes “against evil”. In Cherkasy people strew poppy on “all things that you just got”saying: “Let's be in the farm as much cows, as in poppy head seeds”.

This holiday coincided with beginning of important agricultural works of winter's crop “First sevior – first sowing”.

Later Orthodoxy filled Sevior holidays with other ideological nature.

Christians from the very morning go to church, to consecrate ear of rye, flowers,poppy, honey and water. After consecration flowers and poppy heads were put behind holy picture and keep it there up to spring, in spring poppy was sown over the vegetable garden, and dry flowers were plait in hair - “in order the hair don't come out”.

Amauter artist Nadiia Movchan  works were presented at the exposition, which were dedicated to theme of summer lush blooming: blooming of fields flowers: sunflowers, ox-eye daisies, poppies, cornflowers etc, to flashing of red-sided aples at the sun, gleaming bunch of  guelder-rose.

Nadiia Hryhorivna Movchan was born on 14 January 1961 in the village Turiia of Novomyrhorod region, Kirovohrad oblast. At the late 60s Nadiia together with parents moved to regional centre. In 1977 she finished Novomyrhorod primary and secondary general school №1. After receiving the secondary education diploma , she continued studying in Kirovohrad Vocational School № 4. She became cutter, because both painting, designing and sewing she fascinated from childhood. After graduating from Vocational school, she worked in speciality – cutter of outwear in Kirovohrad, later in Novomyrhorod. In 2001 she founded and managed dress-making and tailoring establishment “Nadia”. In 2011 Nadiia Hryhorivna returned again to old admiration painting.

 

The first work, which amauter artist draw two year ago was landscape. Later she was so interested in painting, that in March 2013 in the Kirovohrad Regional Universal Research Library named after

D. Chizhevsky  department was opened “Spring present us Nadiia” personal exhibition. On June 2014 in Motherland was opened exhibition dedicated to Day of Novomyrhorod city. Also Nadiia Movchan took part in  the exhibition-fair “Long Museum Nights” IX  International auction, dedicated to International day of museums in Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum (2013).

During two years Nadiia Hrohorivna takes active part in different art Internet-competition and projects, and as a result in this year three Nadiia works took three prize places.

At the exposition dedicated to  Savior of the Honey Feast Day were presented such a works «And outside…» (2013), «Field poppies»(2013), «Field flowers»(2014), «Still life. Sevior» (2014).
