Photo exhibition of Liudmyla and Roman Liubarskyi “Orthodox Churches and Holidays” was inaugurated at the Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum on August 9, 2013 within the framework of the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Christianization of Kyivan Rus.

At the exhibition “Orthodox Churches and Holidays” 46 photographs by Liudmyla and Roman Liubarskyi are exhibited; this is a result of their pilgrimage tours and travels. Predominantly there are pictures of their native Kirovohrad, Ukrainian and foreign monasteries and churches.

The Christian church is a complex symbol. Location of the church, its architecture, decoration, painting pattern express something symbolically that is impossible to be reportrayed. That is why staying and praying in church is a path through the visible to the invisible, spiritual comprehension of the Kingdom of God in the unity of its three worlds: divine, heavenly and mundane.

The first attempt to present joint family photo heritage was held on December 26, 2012 at the Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum within the “Literary Salon” during the jubilee event with Roman Liubarskyi “In the Rhythm of the Viennese Waltz”. Presented photos were mainly landscapes and outstanding architectural objects.

Roman Rafailovych Liubarskyi was born on December 26, 1957 in Kirovohrad. He is a Ukrainian journalist, a reporter for Narodne Slovo newspaper, publicist, poet, translator, author of lyrics for numerous songs, the famous researcher of Arseny Tarkovsky oeuvres.

In 1979 he graduated from the Philological Department of the Kirovohrad Alexander Pushkin State Pedagogical Institute and then taught Russian Language and Literature. After this he worked as a journalist. He has been the member of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine since 1991. He has been admitted to the Union of Russian Writers in Israel in 2003.

In September 1998 – January 2007 he lived in Israel. In 2007 – 2009 he resided in Kyiv where he worked as the editor of Vasylkivshchyna Newspaper. In 2010 he was accepted to the Congress of the Literateurs of Ukraine.

Roman Liubarskyi is the author of some poetic collections Chas zirok i doshchiv [Time of Stars and Rains] (Kirovohrad, 1995), Na poroge v 21-yi [On the Threshold of the 21st] (Jerusalem, 2000), Vremia ONO [In the Days of Yore] (Jerusalem, 2002), Tochka rosy [Dew Point] (Kyiv, 2007), Zerno i posokh [Grain and Staff] (Kirovohrad, 2012).

Selected poems were published in the anthology Ukraine. Russian Poetry. 20th Century (Kyiv, Pivden Publishing House, 2008).

Liudmyla Liubarska (Solodova) is a lawyer by education, but poet and storyteller by vocation.

"Wherever we come, - Roman Liubarskyi says – first we try to find a local church. Because church is a place where each piece is a sacred symbol, a reminder of the eternity. This is a continuous flow of spiritual knowledge that comes from Christ through the Apostles and his followers. It is, after all, a place and a means of preserving human in Person”.
