The Present on "Andrew Day"

On December 13, the day of the great winter holiday on "Andrew the Apostle", the staff of Regional Art Museum made creative trip to Kharkiv. Despite rather cold freezing weather, covered with snow Kharkiv met us with a warm, friendly atmosphere created by the staff of Restoration Center.

The unique icons and paintings, which are dated from the late XVIII - early XIX century, in particular "The Virgin Mary", "Holy Queen Alexandra" and portraits of Princess V. Kozhyna and Countess A.P.Zubova returned for the permanent storage to our museum after restoration in Kharkiv. The artists - restorers from Kharkiv department of the National Scientific-Research and Restoration Center of Ukraine made this New Year gift for the museum.

We are very grateful to the Head of  Kharkiv Department NNDRCU Bakum T.O., artists – restorers of easel oil and tempera painting of Kharkiv Department Shutova O.S., Head of Research and Restoration Department Yeremenko T.I. and especially to the main custodian of funds Zubina T.V. for good and professional work, returning to life of these wonderful works. It is restorers who continue lifetime of unique museum exhibits, eliminating all the flaws that lead to premature destruction, giving them the exposition look and preserving these priceless monuments of history and culture for future generations. Preservation of cultural and historical heritage, including museum collections, today is a very important issue, therefore, we hope that cooperation of Regional Art Museum and Kharkiv artists-restorers will continue. And returned from the restoration works will be a worthy completion of exposition in stationary halls of sacred and West-European art.

And the best part of it was the fact that the South Station of Kharkiv and the station landside saw us off  with decorated Christmas trees  which became a good addition of the wonderful Christmas gift.

Hanna Osipova – vice director of research activities

and Valentyna Nozhenko - chief curator of funds of

Kirovohrad Regional Art Museum
